What the club says: First established in 1922 as a 9 hole course Owston Hall has matured wonderfully. It has regularly hosted events on the EuroPro Tour, which demonstrates the excellent standard of the layout. The golf course is set in over 200 acres of mature parkland, with large oaks and water hazards making the course both enjoyable to play whilst at the same time challenging. The feature hole is the 10th a par 4, 284-yard hole which requires a carry over two carefully placed ponds before playing up to the green which is overlooked from the conservatory of the 18th century Owston Hall.

Only had 13 holes open and the first couple of holes were very underwhelming. The pro was a lovely guy though. I had forgotten my golf shoes and he sorted me out with a pair to wear for the round.Course (layout/challlenge)

It's an average parkland course from 1 to 10, but then once you cross through the bizzare 4 gate system, 11 to 15 are superb holes. Back up (4 gates again!) & 16 to 18 are fairly average again. 9 is also a great risk/reward hole.The top mark for this course is the greens, absolutely superb.
Some numbers on the tee would help but apparently this is being rectified.
Hotel good, food excellent & the friendliness of all the staff was superb.
All in all, not a bad course to play, but not one of the best.

New layout to the 18 holesHas Made the course more attractive more challenging and more open a few challenges with tree positions and a bit of water makes it a better course to play green are receptive and true but pace wasn?t easy to read but overall an good improvement from the old layout a bit wait for the greens but it will be a excellent challenging track come summer

Fully understand the course is undergoing a major layout change, but greens and tees that are stopping are in need of some TLC. Fairways need some weed treatment also (daisies everywhere). Can't see me and my mates playing the course again, even with the new layout. May have been better improving the existing course, rather than going to the extreme of new tees and greens(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 83 Handicap: 13.9)

Nice course long drive way to hotel/clubhouse. Greens in excellent condition and fast,course can catch you out if your drives are too long but overall well worth a visit. It's a shame the holes don't have numbers at the tee but you soon work your way around.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 90 Handicap: 18.6)

Beautifully maintained course with very challenging tee shots off the whites. Can\'t understand bad reviews particularly about the long rough as both black and red tees should provide bad golfers with easy opportunity for low scores. The long fescue is expertly shaped and gives the course character. We saw alot of people trying to smash drivers on tee shots that require clever iron play. We spoke to the new Spanish head greenkeeper who informed us that newly constructed greens were built to incorrect specifications and that alot of work was needed before he could open them which is why there are a few temporary greens and that some bunkers were in dier need of renevation so some are gur. Can\'t wait to return next summer when the ongoing work is completed.Course (layout/challlenge)
