What the club says: Murrayfield Golf Club offers parkland golf just outside of Edinburgh's city center, played on a course that is occasionally hilly, always challenging and more than rewarding for all levels of golfer. Each hole features its own unique challenges, so boredom won't be an issue, and the soundtrack piped in from the neighboring Edinburgh zoo makes for its own kind of unique.

Some of the best view of Edinburgh you will ever get

I have played here a number of times over the years. It's a short, hilly course with some great views. It is certainly not easy as the tough holes all play into the wind and the short holes are tight with a lot of danger. The course is better played off the back tees and accuracy into the greens is key. The tees and fairways were lovely but the greens needed a cut - they were pretty slow. It has a great collection of par 3 holes, the highlight is surely the 10th where you tee off about 100 feet above the green.

Once the early fogged cleared course was in great condition considering the rain all day the previous day.
Green run true and not too quick
Bunkers very wet
Slow play and not being allowed/waved through meant waiting at most tees

Played here dozens of times over the years, and never tire of it. Can't fault it other than can be pricey if not with a member.

Good, well-set up course, enjoyable to play. Copes well with the wet by using a lot of mats for tees. Also requires to play off mats/1st cut from 150 out on some holes but I am sure this will mean it is in very good condition for summer. Currently on all 18 summer greens but needing a little time to be ready.

I will definitely play again.

Friendly pro shop, and fantastic views with several challenging holes. Some areas had damage from badgers but overall good condition for the time of year (Feb). Lots of work being done by the groundstaff to maintain and vary the course, ie cutting back gorse, adding trees, reshaping bunkers, etc.
