What The Club Says
Previously known as Mountain Lakes, Castell Heights is now a 9 hole course and was designed to challenging championship standards and was first played in 1988.
Set on the top of Caerphilly Mountain, it has been laid out to enhance your appreciation of the outstanding mountain views and on a fine clear day there is no better view locally.

Nice course
Being fair weather golfers this was our first round for a few months and we wanted to go somewhere different to start off. A few of us had played Castell Heights many years ago so we decided to give it a try.I have to say it brought back lots of memories and was just as fun as we remembered. The course was in great condition considering the weather we?d had with full value given for good shots. The fairways are wide enough so that errant shots (we made quite a lot of these!) are not penalised too badly.
The greens were in on the whole in good condition but a bit bobbly in places causing the ball to jump around but not so bad they spoiled the putting experience.
Some of the bunkers need some work, being more pebble beaches than bunkers.
On the whole a good course, challenging but fun.

Poor
I knows it's the winter but greens were shocking, just patches of mud. Winter mats need renewing as there are undulations under your feet for right handed golfers. Only play here as friend a member otherwise would avoid.Very Poor

Mmmm
Condition of the greens are very very poor, this a is pay as you play course and is generally open to all. This means there is little or no etiquette when it comes to replacing divots or repairing pitch marks on greens so the green keepers face and up hill battle. The course layout is good for a nine hole course with small well place greens. The course takes about 90 mins to play so is ideal on my way home, when I have more time Bryn Meadows is just up the road and is a far better course at approx ?25 or so for 18 holes so a similar cost per hole...Reviewer Rating

Shocking
I know it's been wet but the course is in shocking condition. The fairways are cut too short leaving patches of mud. The greens are not much better. I mentioned that I may play again purely because it's a quick 9 holes on the way home but at ?12 it's not really value for money, I?d rather pay ?20+ at Bryn Meadows and walk off when it gets dark....so maybe won't play again until next summer....Reviewer Rating

Castle Heights
Fairways recently cut to a decent length, the greens are very bobbly/a little poor condition due to the hot weather.Overall enjoyed the round and setting.
Speed of play could have been better. A lot of amateur youngsters who are there for just a knock around, still didn't affect our fun.
