What the club says: This friendly members club was founded in 1905. Located within easy walking distance of Caerphilly town centre and the local Bus and Train stations and just seven miles north of Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, Caerphilly Golf Club is ideally situated as a base for a golfing break in South Wales. There are few golf courses which can match the views from its fairways especially the 10th. Where else can you look out over a magnificent 13th century Norman Castle with its leaning tower that seems so close you can almost touch it.

Terrible layout of a course with no clues as to where the next tee/hole is. Got lost numerous times with some holes sharing a green but with no info to tell you that! Holes 9,10,11 seem to be skipped by the members as they’re so hilly so when you reach the 12 you end up stuck behind groups who were well behind you! Course condition was reasonably good! Physically demanding but could be a nice course with a rework of the layout

Dreadful

Got lost 4 times - no tee markers, no signs. "Fairways" more like heavy rough on some holes - greens disgraceful - waste of time and money.

A physically and mentally demanding course. Some serious changes in elevation. A number of quality holes but one uphill hole can be a sodden mass -we know because it was on the day we visited .A lot of work needs to be done on this hole . Rambling clubhouse with a disappointing breakfast roll service -late and bought from a local shop. Dinner was good honest fayre. Excellent service from the pro.

Just visited this course on a visit to Wales. The course is one of the most physically challenging courses i have played, i would definitely recommend hiring a buggy or at least take a trolley round with you as some of the holes are very hilly. The weather had not been too good before i played but the fairways where in great condition as were the greens. I think most golfers would enjoy the challenges this course provides.
