What the club says: A rolling countryside bordered by a host of mature pines help set the perfect scene for this course which was designed by the legendary Donald Steel. Nestled in the heart of the Garden of England, the course uses all the natural features to make it a most enticing venue. As for the golf itself, the fairways are long and narrow and each of the 18 holes exhibits its own personality. Sometimes they are friendly, sometimes the opposite, but they can never be taken for granted, by even the most capable of golfers! The deceptive 7th hole is technically considered the easiest but beware, you'll need pinpoint accuracy to avoid the steep drop off on three sides of the green.

Very good course, now recovering from the drought, and there's been some good maintenance, including tree pruning.

Fairly well kept course

Fair course, good variety of holes. A few generous fairways but also a few tight tees. Not particularly long but well laid out, a couple short par 4's, helps scorecard. Conditions were very reasonable even though very dry recently, greens average speed but ran true.

Great course,in fantastic condition. Been a few times now and enjoyed it. Only downside is that it does get busy due it being probably the cheapest around. Got stuck behind 7 4 balls of women which made it a 5 hour round.

Very nice woodland course not too many bunkers, Marshall let us tee off early as we were ready. Greens had just been dressed so putting was tricky but sure they will settle down.

The course to ourselves

Recent frosty conditions left the ground a touch boggy - so no roll and quite a few plugged lies. Still enjoyable and was a nice 'pain' to be squinting against the sun. Only complaint - as a new course to us the signage between greens and next tee could be a lot better - 15th to 16th tee we tee'd up on the 3rd. But we shall return when the ground is drier to give it another crack.

An open course with some challenges

A well laid out course that does not overtly punish the bad shot but can still make you pay a price. Impressed with the greens.

Greens have recently been hollow tined so quite slow and bumpy. The tees are in poor condition. Bar stupidly expensive and two different lagers were both off. Got my car scratched by someone in the car park. Have to give your card details for a ?350 deposit if you want a buggy (!!!). Other than that it was 'alright'.

Very challenging due to the windy conditions. My 36 hole battery lost power whilst playing the 16th. I put this down to the amount of mud sticking to the wheels. Bunkers were in good condition and so were the greens. Quite expensive to play here considering the amount of mud on the fairways.

Good variation of holes, plenty of trees and surrounding woodlands made for a pleasant game. The greens were decent for the time of year, would expect them to be better in the summer. Not a particularly long course but still a fair challenge.

Nearly there

The course is amazing and has some challenging holes, greens are fast, fairways in good condition, the only draw back is the bar, which is expensive, and is lacking staff.

Tough greens

Nice course too many flying ants can’t be helped and crap on the greens, the par 4’s are extremely long esp if your drives are a tad wayward, on the whole nice course but not up there with my favourites

Drainage improvements but still a little muddy

Course was playing relatively well but grass is long as cutters not been able to get out there yet. Drainage chnages can be seen to be improving the course but 1, 2 and 8 still show signs of major "floods". Green a bit bumpy and tees may need to be rotated a bit more. But overall played nicely for this time of year.

It was very wet the day we played, course was in excellent condition considering. Greens were firm and true. Will be back to play again hopefully when it is dry. I should imagine the vourse gets very busy in the summer, but you can understand why, by playing it in the winter

Played the course in late December, it was in very good conditions. Boggy in a few places but to be expected given the recent weather and having a round at a different course cancelled two days earlier.
Two long par 5s are definitely a challenge when it's wet and the ball isn't carrying as far.
Other than that it must be quite a straightforward course as it's the first round I've played without loosing a ball!
Facilities seemed good, only went to the pro shop to check in and get token for the range beforehand, the Driving range is limited to irons due to its size, the covered bays and mats are in good condition, good range for a quick warm up before the round.
My only criticism of the course is the walk between some of the holes is a bit of a distance and could be better sign posted in some places, particularly the walk from the 9th to the 10th.

This is by no means enough to put me off playing again, I can imagine it's a lovely course to play in the dryer months and will definitely be back then.

The course was very wet, and has seen a lot of foot fall which has created a lot of sludge, not ideal for golf, the sports bar was under manned, so a lot of waiting around to order drinks.
