What the club says: This 18 hole pay and play course, which opened in 1992 was originally designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark. The 5,530 yards of golf course provides challenges all the way through the 18 holes you play. Several lakes provide plenty of interest along the way and the well placed bunkers catch the errant shots that all golfers commit at times!

A short drive past Guildford on the A3 from London. If you time it right you can avoid traffic. A very rewarding shortish course suitable for all handicaps. It can be as challenging as you make it with a couple of water carries. Only one long par 5. Good clubhouse and friendly staff.

This course is particularly good when it has been wet as the drainage is excellent. There are some interesting holes and it is not too long so a good day out and well worth the trip.

Surprising condition

Although the course was very dry, the approaches and greens were in good condition, and they had put lots of areas as GUR which will hopefully help the course repair when finally get some rain.

Good little course, was extremely busy so pace of play was slow. Was in great condition. Could just do with limiting tee times to make pace of play quicker

I think the greens at Hurtmore are the real challenge of the course. The fairways at the moment are very dry and hard and could probably do with a little watering and care. The course is a busy one and there?s an and many people do not replace divots on the fairways. Value for money the course is excellent. The clubhouse offers good fairly priced refreshments / meals .

Great value course

Nice course with good condition greens. Good to have a couple of driving bays for the warm up, plus putting and chipping mat. Really the only downside with this course is some road noise from the adjacent A3. Quite compact but still plenty of opportunity to use the driver. Ideal course for the intermediate player.

Started off on 10th tee again, because they were ?Working on the 4th hole? , this is the 2nd or 3 time in the last couple of months, and like before we could not see any work being completed Considering the weather we have had, the course was in pretty good condition, but the bunkers could do with some more sand in them. It would also be a good time to fill in some of the puddles on the paths on the course.

Very friendly staff who could not have been more helpful. Rearranged tee time due to having to postpone previously and Will and his colleague chase me to get a new date. Glad I did.
Despite weather course in good condition and only 1 temp tee.
Look forward to going back

Pleasant round of golf.

Play Hurtmore a couple of times a year. I does drain well making it a good year round course.
Played in early October in a society. First thing to say pace of play was very good, no delays at all in the round.
Being October and poorish weather fairways were beginning to show some wear and tear. We were playing preferred lies so not a great issue.
The greens were excellent, really quick for the time of the year. The majority of the bunkers were fine a couple not so good.
Catering as it was a Monday is limited. However our Bacon Roll to start was first rate. Good buns which makes all the difference.
Well stocked pro shop.
It is not a long course but you can find trouble. We have some good golfers in our society and there were no ‘bandit’ scores which tells you something about the course!

Information

When we got to the 1st tee, it was apparent that they were doing some work on the fairways as there was soil all over it. It was a shame that they didn't tell us that they were doing work on the course.

Good value course compared to others and which drains well in the winter. Quite short but still a good test and need straight shots to score well.

Good round with friends

Course was in great condition to be fair. My only criticism is the holes run very close to each other and hear FORE shouted a lot. Luckily we got out early and would insist on an early tee time if we played again. Can imagine it’s carnage, maybe a little dangerous ifyou have a course full.

Good challenge

Nice course albeit a bit shorter than most and so most par 4's reachable in two. Greens very quick and difficult to read and rest of course also in good condition. One issue is that the holes are quite close together and so it's quite easy to be hit by a wayward shot from a neighbouring hole (happened to one of our players today).

Both warm-up nets out of commission (ripped through).
Bunker drainage inadequate (puddles, solid and compacted sand)
Fairways and greens in brilliant condition considering recent weather.
Some cruel pin placement on the slopes of the greens, both for approaching and putting.

The course was in good condition considering the amount of rain we have had. However, this has shown up where there are lots of puddles that could have possibly been filled in, which would have meant that certain grass areas wouldn't be trampled down by people trying to avoid the puddles. Overall an enjoyable afternoon of golf.
