What the club says: The Glamorganshire Golf Club, situated in the seaside town of Penarth on the outskirts of Cardiff is the second oldest golf club in South Wales. Although being near the sea, the Glamorganshire is not a links, but an 18-hole parkland course on undulating ground on the edge of what are now Cosmeston Lakes.
The Club is steeped in tradition - it was at the Glamorganshire that the Stableford scoring system was first tried by its creator, Dr. Frank Stableford in September 1898, and where the Barbarian Rugby Football Club made Penarth their home in 1901 for their traditional Easter tour to Wales, the Glamorganshire was adopted as the place to spend the free Sunday.

American Golf Junior Open Comp only spoilt by the awful weather. The course was in a very good condition. However by halfway round the greens start to get puddles from the constant rainfall.

Why does it get to be called the Glamorganshire?
Shame about the weather at this time of year. The course was in good condition however, the greens nice and true, the wet conditions, drying, slowed them up for the newbies. No standing water but wet first cut very tight, fairways a must. Overall good course, if unspectacular. Played with friendly locals which helped. Nice clubhouse, good atmosphere. Friendly Pro at Sign In.

Would not recommend this course to anyone. A very poorly run course. Staff promise the world yet can;t even open the pro shop by 8:50am on a Sunday morning. Avoid this one and play elsewhere. The course looked nice but was able to get on as I was hiring clubs. When questioned the management did little to assist.

A very welcoming club with Traditional facilities.
Greens in great condition and quite fast.
16th hole is a view to die for.
Played in Sept with a round of 101 off 28.
Booked via Tee off app for a great price.
Will play again

A nice course that can be deceivingly tricky in places. Greens were very fast in places.

Great eather and a very enjoyable round on this course which is very good for society golf - plenty of interesting quirky par-4 holes, but if anything the par-5s let it down slightly due their length being a bit short. The greens were in absolutely superb condition and a rake with a stand in each and every bunker was a nice touch.

This is a very traditional golf club. Claims to be the home of the Stableford scoring system. A well set out undulating course. Always kept in good condition and pleasing on the eye. Greens are of a good quality . Catering is of a high standard.
For me the course does not quite have the wow factor.
