What the club says: Five Lakes Resort hosts two contrasting and mature 18 hole parkland courses which have gained an enviable reputation in this part of the world.

The Lakes Course (Five Lakes Resort). This course, designed by Neil Coles, is used annually for regional PGA events and was the venue for the Nick Faldo Challenge. The course provides a testing examination for the better player as well as an enjoyable round for all standards. Water features strongly in the overall design of the Lakes Course, coming in to play on ten of the holes.

The Links Course (Five Lakes Resort) The Links course is renowned for its sweeping fairways and plush greens. With its strategically placed water hazards, sand bunkers and well guarded greens it proves an excellent challenge. Kept in superb condition all year round, the Links is slightly easier than the Lakes but a very enjoyable round nevertheless.

18 holes. Par 71. 6181 yards. Parkland.

2nd course at the Five lakes resort

course was ok, would not go out of my way to play again but works well with the set up, difficult to find as no signage to say where it is from hotel or club house..!!

The Links Course Five Lakes

Relatively easy course to play. Very nice sunshine and conditions to play in, signage directing you to course and practice facilities could be more prominent and easier to see.

A Hot one at 5 Lakes

A very straight course with very little contour. As I am a high handicapper I used my driver on 16 of the holes. Much better value in the afternoon as it is half price. Paid ?25 for an 8am tee off. Weather was excellent shot 41 on the back nine, so very please with that, included a birdie on the par 3 hole 15. Also it is stroke indies 8 so scored a rare 5 points????.

Five Lakes - Links

Mid June 19' and course is in fantastic condition. Especially the greens. Definite a 8 out of 10. Only gripe was having to repair over golfers divots on the greens.

Five lakes lakes and links course

Played here as an over night stay deal which was value for money, hotel was exelant and so was the food. Both courses need work to be done on the bunkers, the fairways and greens were in good condition, the lakes is the better course, the links has a very bland front nine but a good back nine, would recommend it for a weekend golf.

Great course

We had a 11.04 tee time today, this was great. The weather really nice, my first time played, and it was like having the course to ourselves as didn’t see a sole. Condition was excellent and would definitely recommend and return.

Lakes course was a reasonable challenge but the links course was quite bland and more of an open parkland course, not really linksy at all. Bedrooms were of a good standard but food was very disappointing. The biggest problem was that the bar did not have any bitter and also ran out of lager and Guinness! They said they were changing supplier and wanted to clear old stock prior to introducing the new range but it seemed more likely that bills had not been paid!

Great Winter Course

£15 for winter twilight on this course is a bargain. It didn't have as many lakes as the name suggests, but there are many bunkers which can catch you out. The course is laid out superbly and each hole is different. But it is the greens that make this course. USGA standard greens and they run true and fast, something which can take a couple of holes to get used to. I will be back in the near future. Also excellent facilities on site.

Worth consideration

The Lakes course significantly better and more challenging than the Links course. Top marks for condition of greens and fairways but like most hotel courses presentation leaves much to be desired, especially tee boxes and bunkers.

Great course, range needs upgrade, bar shut at 530!

Great course, but was busy, would play again.
Range needs major upgrade, chipping and putting green are good. course bunkers sand inconsistent sand quality.
Tee box, fairways, tee box’s good quality.

Monday Club @ 5 Lakes

Great day out and my first trip to this Crowne Plaza course. Its a great course and the greens were very fast and in fantastic condition. Only downside our round went to 5 hours as some club members were in front of our team and combined to make a very sow foursome which was disapointing, to be fair they did apologise.
Outside the curse the bar team were particularly slow.. which is not acceptable. Waiting 10 minutes to be served is wrong.
