Links - was better than the other reviews on here lead me to believe, by no means the greatest course I have played but it was an enjoyable challenge. ps you need to keep an eye on the ball when it leaves the fairways.

Glad the 'Links' has been dug up, de-comissioned, put out of its misery.
Pleased to hear that some money is now being spent on the Lakes course. Hopefully on the tees, fairawys, bunkers and greens. Otherwise it's fine. It will take some time to reverse many years of poor maintenace. I hope it will be successful because it is a good design and layout.
The pro shop there is great, fiendly and well-stocked. But nothing else for anyone wishing for any other club experience.

Bad timing
The course, tricky in the wind with lightning fast greens that are borderline impossible to hold the ball onto. Fairways very brown and rock hard. As for the experience, horrible, seems like the place was happy to cram as many tee times in as possible making it a pathetically long round at 5 hours for a 3 ball. Take the money over a players experience, will not be visiting again.(Round played: Sep 2020 - Score: 99 Handicap: 19.1)

Very disappointed
I am looking for a club to join for myself and a friend who works with me and tried Fives Lakes on Wednesday afternoon. We had a tee time booked and arrived a little early. We were greeted by a woman who was really friendly and she gave us the round for no charge and a free 100 balls between the two us for the driving range. We both felt really welcome and after using the balls we played the Links course. It is a nice course, a little flat and straight, but neither of us are very good so it is perfect for us. During the round it started to rain and we told the pair behind us to tee off while I put on waterproof trousers. We then talked to them walking the fairway and were told they paid £500ish for the year and to talk to Gary about membership. We then let them finish the hole and played the rest of the round. I was instantly joining as it definitely worth about £1100 for me to pay for our two memberships.Unfortunately that was as good as it got. When I phoned the following morning I was told that membership would be £1100 each and that to get that price I had to be under 32, I am 45 and my friend is 48. I was completely thrown by this and just thought it was ridiculous. I kept coming up with examples of situations where no one with any intelligence would pay twice as much as the next customer. They offer no apology and think it is perfectly fine for two adults to play the same course and for one to pay twice as much as the other. I personally have never experienced anything like this and still can’t quite believe it. I want to join the club but I can not pay twice as much as another member. In my opinion, you would need to be a little stupid to do so. Would anyone watch the person if front of them at a till pay £500 for something and then pay £1000 for the exact same item. It’s insane.
I am genuinely gutted as I wanted to join but I am being discriminated against based on my age.
I have spoken to six friends who have all played for years and non of them have ever heard of this and none of them said anything that was nice about it. They all thinks it’s ridiculous.

Course very hard, fairway and greens, too hard, ball rolls off green and all playing agreed, also bunkers very hard, shallow sand and full of stones, damaged my club. Holes also to similar just different lengths.

When I asked in the pro shop if the Links was as scruffy as the Lakes that we had played the previous day I should of known from his reaction that it was not going to be good.
The front nine is very flat and boring, tee boxes were scruffy and scarred and the bunkers had very little sand with a large amount of grass growing through, one of the worst nine holes I have ever played.
To be fair the back nine is a lot better and I wondered whether there was actually originally three nines with the first nine of the Links added to make to 18s.
The only decent hole I can remember was 18.
