What the club says: A pretty parkland course, surrounded by mature woodland, with lush fairways and excellent greens watered from natural underground springs. The nine hole course is relatively short but very challenging, The course record is 67 - scored by Andy Francis. Created in 1970 and extended through a mature wood in 1987, the many natural springs have been tamed into water features which are home to a varierty of wildlife.

Birch Grove
It's a pleasure to play there, the course is kept well & ideal for the more mature golfer.The course is not long but extremely interesting with all types of holes & hazards.
Cost for playing is excellent, I play with members & is only ?19 for 18 holes & only ?22 if not in the week & not much more at the weekend.
Very laid back & friendly vibe & I would join but live 45 mins away.

Good course, shame about other members
Used this course as a visitor over the weekend. Has a great range of holes requiring different skills and shots. A real shame that other users decide to take divets out of the ground in frustration. Also you get treated like an alien by the club staff, and spoken to like a criminal by other players when you supposedly ?take too long? on a shot.Reviewer Rating

Good little short course. 2 - Pointer
Brilliant overall, good to work on ones shorter game. There were 2 points that i would like to bring up.1- The greens should be given more speed as a lot of them were rather slow.
2 - on the 6/15th Hole the Par 5 there is that massive tree that is in the fairway, this takes out the opportunity to hit large and go for the green with a short iron. Perhaps the Greenkeeper should bring the idea up of getting rid of the tree.

Great little course! Only planned to play nine but wanted to play 9 more and it was only £5 extra! £12 for the first 9. Friendly clubhouse and even a little shop which I didn’t even realise was there.

what a fun golf course
Moved to Colchester from Romford late March this year . Played this course 25 years ago and thought I would give it a go . Kept in excellent condition . It is pretty , fun and you need to think . Just a touch short to be a great course but I like fun golf courses and this is exactly that . Members and bar very very friendly and I am told the food is excellent . Was just visiting the area, so popped in to try and get a quick game. This was not a problem as it is a pay and play course, which is surprising with the quality of the course. May only be a 9 hole but there is plenty there to challenge. It's not the longest course about but very enjoyable
