What the club says: Dumbarton Golf Club, one of the oldest in the West of Scotland, owes its existence largely to the fact that in 1887 a few of the towns illustrious shipbuilding sons holidayed at St Andrews. It is a formidable golf course, designed to test the straightest of drivers making this par 70 course a rare challenge.

dumbartons sweet gem

decent wide fairways but if your not straight can lead to trouble with trees and wild rough awaiting those poor tee shots all in all a worthy challenge for a par 70 also with the course at sea level the boys have done a grand job with the drainage and the greens are in superb condition

This course just keeps on improving everytime I visit, when I played last week the greens were in fantastic shape and they trumped all the local courses for the condition they were in.
Friendly members and also the bar and catering staff have been very friendly on any of my visits.
I wiill certainly be back at Dumbarton in the near future!!

Well established and deceptive course which is regularly forgiving due to parallel fairways.

A tight wee course all fairways have trees lined down each sides and burns put in strategic placements and the greens are true and lovely , catering was non existent as it was closed on a Monday and there was no one in the pro shop , but the bar staff were lovely (andy) and could only apologise

Lovely compact course. Narrow tree-lined fairways on basically flat ground. Greens very true and constant, mostly gentle borrows. Quiet and away from traffic, very pleasant.

This is a nice flat course, however it is not as easy at it first looks. A lot of work has been completed over the last few years on drainage and the course is now reaping the benefits.
