What the club says: On a clear day there are few parkland courses to rival the scenic beauty of Downpatrick Golf Club. The course designers have excelled themselves with strategically positioned bunkers and unforgiving cuts of rough. The par 5 12th has dented many a score card with the need for length and accuracy. When seeking a stern golfing challenge look no further.

Its a strange greeting you get here at the moment as there is no real professional shop where it tells you there should be. Never the less the guy who served me was very pleasant as were other players that I met. I guess they are in the middle of some reorganisation. I didn't see a single member of the ground staff either which may explain why the grass on the fairways was playable but a little long. Bunkers weren't great - a few stones and not enough sand but the greens were very well prepared. The layout of the course is mature and provides a good test.

Great course with great views

This is the first time I have played the course in 17 years. It is in great condition with the tee boxes, fairways and greens in perfect condition. The greens are deceptively quick! The rough is kept in check with no major difficulties of getting out of it. Highly recommended for visitors to the area and I will definitely be back.

Fun, well kept course. Brilliant greens and in great shape. Two holes are hilly which people may chose to remember - this is more than compensated by great views of Scotland, IOM, mountains and lakes. Very worthwhile. Not the longest so probably best suited to mid/higher handicappers.
