What the club says: The course was founded in 1979 and designed by Arnold Ennis and is set in the grounds of the 16th Century Bright Castle. Our clubhouse offers an excellent place to relax and eat after you have played our course and you can enjoy stunning views of the Mourne Mountains and Bright Castle.

King of the Castle
What a gem this course is, the greens were fantastic, the fairways also in good condition and some of the views out towards the Mourne Mtns were spectacular. Its a big course and tough to play in any weather but expect a real challenge on a windy day. Only let down was poor facilities i.e. food etc(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 98 Handicap: 18.4)

Great Course just outside Downpatrick
I was a member of Bright Castle for many years before moving away. I recently went back to play it and it is better than ever. The Ennis brothers who own the course have done a great job in making a great course even better. I would love to see the par 6 put back in but that is just for old times sake. Highly recommended if you are in the Downpatrick area.Reviewer Rating

GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY
Best opening 4 x holes to a golf course. Great views, always look forward to playing there. Hard to find but you are glad as the first tee is normally empty.Arnold & Gordon always welcoming. Would be nice if they could turn back time and re-instate the par 6. Would recommend for all handicaps.Reviewer Rating

We visited this course in August, 2015. Not having the time to book a round I did visit - the management provided a cart - and was amazed at the beauty of the course and the dramatic views of the Mourne (you seemingly could almost touch them) and the sea just below it. After inquiring as to the golf fee and realized this must be the best kept secret in all of Northern Ireland. A bit remote, but a short drive from Downpatrick and perfect in every way!

A cracking course, have been coming here for over twenty years and would recommend 100%. This course is well maintained and fully playable during the winter months, never a temporary tee box or green.

caters for all levels of golfer. Have brought guests from far & near who all have enjoyed it. Excellent value for money £12 midweek £8 evenings. A long course that will give you plenty of exercise and great views of the surrounding coastline.

Good course, challenging with different challenges such as hedge in front of the green, green surrounded by bunkers and long par 3s and 5s. Only complaint is lack of course map. First time I played it was hard to find the way around as it is not always obvious where the next tee is.
