Review Information

What the club says: Dewsbury Golf Club is part parkland and part moor land course. It is set high up on the hillside above Mirfield in West Yorkshire and offers beautiful panoramic views of the local countryside. The course is fairly testing in length, playing 6,360 yards from the back tees, and with a par and SSS of 71, it will challenge your accuracy as well as stamina should you choose to walk the course.

Hilly

Lovely course but if I play it again I will be in a buggy. First 7 holes in particular feel like they're going up a mountain , after that it calms down a bit!

Fabulous course with great views

Having played a large number of courses this is certainly the best in Yorkshire. The club is very friendly with help from the staff and members for visiting parties to navigate this dr Mackenzie design. This is a true test of golf with parkland holes leading up to heathland on the top of the hill. This will provide you with stunning views and great memories. The greens and fairways in top notch condition when we visited.

Unique challenge

Staff and members were very helpful and welcoming. We were playing 36 holes and it was tough going with a push trolley. Electric trolley or buggy definitely needed. We didn't know the course so relied on the few lines of 'pro's tip' for each hole on the website. It was a great test of golf ability, greens were excellent with some amazing views and memorable holes all the way round.

Great Course pretty hilly though!!

Course was in pretty good condition considering the rain we have had over the last few days. The greens were quick for the time of year and most of the tees were good. One or two tees were on mats but that didn't detract from the round. The view from the fourteenth tee is spectacular and deserves a mention!!

Terrific hilly course with amazing views

You will need to be fit to climb the hills but it will be worth your while! The greens are amazing! The views are stunning. The course is challenging. Every hole is real fun and different and there are some fabulous feature holes that will amaze you!

Very tiring course 1-9 is climbing on nearly every hole. Uneven stances only fit for mountain goats. A buggy is essential if we ever come back again.

Hidden gem

Had a great day at Dewsbury, this is a great course but hilly, but a really nice course, and the views wow.a little wet today but that’s to be expected with the rain we have had, but it played well considering. Will definitely be back

So we visited a couple of weeks ago and all was great until the 16th tee when a four ball (all elderly) tried to push in, they had clearly just walked up from the first tee. They decided against teeing off as there was another 2 ball behind us and 2 behind them. Instead the teed off the 17th before the bell had sounded, almost hitting the players on the fairway. This really spoilt the enjoyment of the round. The 2 members confirmed that it happens all the time but the club do nothing about. Not sure if we'll return.
