What The Club Says
The course is heathland and was established in 1913. The Regional Qualifier for the Open was held at Coxmoor in 1992 and 1993 and again from 1996 to 2001 and we are hopeful that it will return in the near future. In August 2008 the Club hosted the Reid Trophy, the under-14 Boy's International. In 2013, the Club appointed a new Head Greenkeeper and our course reflects the excellent work he and his team have been doing. Recent visitors have paid tribute to the outstanding condition of the course and friendly welcome. We are proud to be hosting England Golf this year for the English Seniors Championship. We welcome visitors and societies to play throughout the year and provide excellent catering to suit the needs of visiting golfers.

beautiful course
Despite it being VERY wet recently the course played well. There were a few temporary greens in operation of mixed quality but the greens we did play on were spot on. Love the layout of this beautiful course. Great challenge.Reviewer Rating

Beautiful course, great atmosphere, in my top 10
I had waited a year to get a date to play this course I first saw during a PXG fitting there. We played on a misty Monday morning in October after horrendous rain and flooding across the UK. On arrival the course was shrouded in mist but playable by our 10.30 tee time. The very helpful pro informed us that the 5th hole was out of play due to a new lake having appeared overnight but every other hole was open. We went for a bite to eat hoping the mist would disappear. The newish clubhouse is lovely, quite a small spike bar but the breakfast wrap was excellent. I always sigh in disappointment when places do not do a large coffee, but a small mug worked on this occasion. The pro suggested we tee off on the 10th to avoid the mass of members who had not been able to get on their course all week and the price had been reduced to half (40 quid) because of the circumstances. The back nine is amazing, undulating hills, valleys and tree lined, heathered rough makes for a photo every hole. The greens were immaculate, tee boxes looked unplayed on and the fairways well maintained. We flew round the back nine in 90 mins and arrived at the first with no-one in sight and teed off again. The front nine still lovely and well bunkered and great use of the natural lie of the land. I would say out of 18 holes, only hole 6 was slightly disappointing but thats being over critical on a course which commands 100 quid in the summer and is worth every penny. We had such an enjoyable 18 holes we asked to play the back nine again (as the mist had now gone) and they gave us the go ahead so we got to do it all again. Fantastic day out in lovely October weather. The pro is a credit to the club (sorry did not get a name but young lad with a beard), the course is superb and my mate and I both off single figures tried to decide on here for 100 or Hollinwell for 185. I think I would go with Coxmoor for the whole package as I do not think Hollinwell as a whole package is worth the extra. If you like golf, this is a must play course. One comment we did both make is that the course is not hard off yellows, with everything reachable and quite forgiving rough. But see what you think!Reviewer Rating
