What the club says: Clitheroe is a beautiful 18 hole parkland golf course located in the heart of the Ribble Valley. Designed by the legendary Scottish designer, James Braid, the course has been on its present site since 1932. Over the years the course has developed to 6518 yards when played off the championship tees with a par and SSS of 71 strokes. The course is a challenge to all levels of golfer with a premium on straight driving without being too demanding physically.
The views from the course are quite spectacular, with Longridge Fells and Waddington providing the backdrop to Stonyhurst College and Mitton Church. To the east is Pendle Hill, scene of many witch trials so legend states.
Clitheroe is a course of considerable prestige and regarded as one of the top 10 courses in Lancashire. The County Championship has been hosted three times in the last 29 years and twice in the last 8 years. At national level, the Club has hosted the EGU County Champions Tournament and most recently the Schools Team Championship.

This course is great! It's in excellent condition with a variety of holes and hazards. The clubhouse and practice facilities are very good. The layout is great, the greens are fast, and the staff is friendly. I recently played in a seniors open here and it was very well organized. I would highly recommend this.

Quality course with a vatiety of holes suitable from low to high handicap. Open fairways and we'll kept greens. Views from course scenic. A very nice club house with friendly hosts.

Beautiful testing course
Gorgeous weather and a course to match it, you get what you pay for and this is the best course I have played.Well maintained fairways and excellent manicured greens made for a great day of golf, I wish I was better and I would have enjoyed it more.
It's a must if you've never played. Don't play two cheap ones, play this instead

Nice course, worth playing
Always enjoy playing Clitheroe, friendly welcome, good practice facilities. Course in good condition if a little wet in places, especially semi rough. Greens great, good roll. Easy walk round.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 79 Handicap: 5.4)

Good Deal
Played on sunday 7th July, £120 fourball, this was in my opinion a good deal for a well maintained and highly thought of course, as expected the course was immaculate throughout, with the greens a real handful,this said i did"nt think there was any wow factor about the place,if i had to pay £55 standard GF of a weekend i might be looking to play elsewhere.

Great course
For an Open Qualifying course Clitheroe is in fantastic condition. The fairways and greens are like carpets. A must play course in the part of the North West. A tough test with plenty of timber about and the par 3s are well guarded but if you play well you can score well.Reviewer Rating

Played early in the morning when course was covered in a light frost. It still played really well with the greens still taking a well played shot. The course has varied holes and was a joy to play.

Played with work colleagues after work on a Tuesday evening and the course was fantastic. Superb greens in a beautiful parkland setting surrounded made for a most enjoyable round of golf. At 6153 yards off the yellows, it is a good test for all levels.

An excellent course made better still by the great weather (even on a Bank Holiday Monday!). Beautifully maintained and looking its best. Greens were fast but fantastically true and despite there being lots of people on the course there were no real delays

Played in a midweek open team event that the club have quite frequently. Got to say that this is a very well run, friendly club. Friendly welcome from staff and members alike. Good food in clubhouse. Good practice facilities. Course looked superb and was. Well manicured. Greens true. Fairways lush. Longish course from back tees, need to be fairly straight as most holes treelined. Nice finishing hole par 5 towards the clubhouse. I would recommend anyone to play this course at least once.
