Most Helpful Review

The only thing that let the club down was being made to wait at the first Tee for over 40 minutes after being told by the pro shop that we were off after the 3 guys on the tee were away. We were not told that the 3 on the tee would then allow 2 4 balls and a 3 ball to tee off before them. When the 3 musketers were asked what was going on, they replied that they were all members and a competition was under way. All this after a very scarcastic explaination of the ball rack system for tee off order, which it seems only works if you are a member with attitude. No need for it really, and a pity, a very well kept course, especially the green with a club house that is second to none.

Perhaps we caught the 3 members on a bad day!!!!!! - Dec 31 2008

Very Enjoyable

Really enjoyed my round at Clacton.
The course layout is great with a nice mixture of long challenging holes and shorter attackable holes.
The green were in excellent condition. Held the ball really well and rolled so true. To too many subtle breaks which are hard to read.
The bunkers were very well kept and had the right amount of sand!
Its forgiving in places which means it can be enjoyed by all levels of golfers.
Definitely worth a visit! - Oct 18 2017

Great Course!
Great course in really nice condition. Greens were really soft and responsive especially considering the time of year. Course is a nice mix of parkland and links golf. Would highly recommend.

I run a Society that have been going to Clacton for good number of years and were due there last Friday 24th June, 2016. The Course and area had suffered under the torrential rain and a number of holes were likely to be unplayable.
To assist, in getting our society able to play that day I was given the Head Green Keepers number which I rang at 05.15 to be told that only 13 holes were available.
It was decided that the day should go ahead and we arrived at the allotted time and played the 13 holes (slightly reverse order but no real problem). However, buggies were not permitted and some of the society members were unable to complete a second round and didn't stay for the evening meal which was part of the booked package.
Terry (who I've since found out, he is the CEO of the Club - what everyone else use to call the Secretary) was extremely helpful in accommodating our varying numbers (for golf and refreshments) and only charge us for that which we had, which to a small society like ours is so helpful when funds are low.
I all, what can I say, the course this year was poor through no fault of the Golf Club but the service and assistance and forbearance of the Club in making our day a good day was excellent.
Thoroughly recommend any society wanting to go to a club where you are made welcome not a nuisance to the members like some.
We will be back again next year
