What The Club Says
The course sits in a horseshoe- shaped loop formed by the River Waveney, and is an inland heathland course, with plenty of gorse and a mixture of pine and birch trees. Set in only 84 acres of well-drained land, it is a very comfortable course to walk and rarely suffers from excessive water.
The greens are quite small and well-protected, and the challenge is therefore in accuracy rather than length. In early spring the course is at its best, with the abundance of gorse in flower and some lovely views over the surrounding marshes. There is a variety of wildlife to distract you from your game, and skylarks can often be heard singing overhead.

Dry course
Very dry course, but needs a good tidy up, and some investment to bring it up to a reasonable standard. Staff in pro shop and bar pleasant, but members on the day I played were quite rude. Perhaps they just don't like visitors.!!It's 2026, not 1926, surely visitors income is needed, especially looking at the state of the course.
My visit was a few months ago, but I'am not in a hurry to rush back. Senior club member need to be more welcoming.

Fantastic Course
Excellent time, very friendly staff. Mid October on a decent day, immaculate condition. Decent net and putting/chipping green. Course was varied and different on every hole, would highly recommend.Reviewer Rating

amazing improvements
Bungay has made great progress in recent years, improving greens and aprons. Old bunkers have been rebuilt and repositioned to make the course more interesting. Tees have been extended with the intention of making the course longer - still work in progress. The course has been payable all winter, despite the rain and flooding elsewhere. A Braids course.Reviewer Rating

Poor condition
Played recently and fairways had been scarified and greens hollow tined making putting a lottery. Whilst, as golfers, we understand that course maintenance is important it is wrong that visitors are not informed and green fees reduced. Extremely unhelpful when we complained. We will not be playing here again- far better courses around.Reviewer Rating

Heathland
This is a good heathland layout although of the non manicured type. The fairways are patchy and the greens were not the best but at least the rough was whispy and not over penalReviewer Rating

A GEM
What a lovely course! We were looked after from start to finish playing 36 holes after a fog bound wait. Friendly, helpful and charming staff without exception. Scenic course with excellent greens for February. The fairways could do with attention but they didn't detract from a great experience.Reviewer Rating
