What The Club Says

The par 72 course runs to 6,692 yards for the men, 5,700 for the ladies and is set up in a way which should maximise enjoyment for all standards of golfer - you shouldn't have to spend your holiday looking for lost balls! The well-drained greens, built to USGA standards, means the course rarely closes in inclement weather, and in winter tees and greens are in full use - no temporaries.

A ten bay covered driving range, large putting green and a chipping green complete the picture. A fleet of 20 electric buggies lay at your disposal. With two nine-hole loops back to the clubhouse starts are possible from the first or the tenth, useful for those wanting an early nine hole game.

The first nine starts at the upper end of the course and makes for an excellent warm-up to a full round, the benefit of which you will feel when you reach the 600 yard 7th! On the way you will pass some of the 26 lakes and ponds which adorn the course.

The second nine quickly descends past the old Lanteglos church into the valley of the river Allen which is lined by attractive bluebell woods and streams. The signature hole is the 385 yard 12th, a challenging par four with an island green reached by a covered wooden footbridge reminiscent of New England. A few holes later, you will be on the 18th tee, hopefully hitting your drive to the top of the slope which presents you with a commanding view of the clubhouse which awaits you with a welcoming and well deserved drink.

Beautiful course

It was our first time playing at bowood, as we wanted to try somewhere new and boy were we not disappointed. From a friendly welcome in the pro shop, to a beautiful course, with some stunning holes to test any golfer. The greens had just been hollowed out, but it didn't effect the enjoyment. We will both be visiting again. The only sad part, was after the round we fancied a snack and saw a sandwich board on entering the clubhouse offering some breakfast option, but to no avail. Despite the sign, the don't serve food at this time of year unfortunately. Maybe don't put the board out abd we wouldn't have been disappointed, but still worth the visit and money.

Tricky dog legs

Good course with some tricky holes. Local knowledge required for some of the dog legs. Tee boxes not very level

Our ‘away day’

We have played Bowood Park many times. It is demanding but superb to play on. The course is kept in excellent conditions and all of our party of 19 commented on how much they enjoyed their day. Service from all staff was good and a pleasure to visit.

Bowood may not be the easiest venue to get to but it is well worth the effort. The hotel is excellent, the staff are friendly and the course is a gem. It is also worth pointing out that, unlike many other resort courses, there is "proper" sand in the bunkers. Definitely worth a visit

Great Hotel, Fab Course

Stayed there in March, great place, will definitely be going back. Perfect all round for a golf break or golf day out. Course layout well designed provide lots of interest and fun challenges but a track that is fair to all golfers.

Good layout, great use of the terrain, some crackin golf holes and I would recommend it for a group getaway. Friendly to varied handicaps and there is a good bar to drown your sorrows if the course gets the better of you.

This is an excellent course, however the weather was appalling and I simply couldn't cope. Hands a problem!
