My favourite course!
Played here for about 15 years from late 70s. Lovely interesting course. Friendly to beginners whilst still being a good challenge to good players my best round was 79 so I''m no expert but was pretty decent eventually!Reviewer Rating

Basic clubhouse with limited breakfast options. Staff friendly and good atmosphere mixing with members. Course was challenging, greens run really true, good grass coving on tees and fairways, bunkers either had too much sand or not enough. Enjoyed the day will definitely re visitReviewer Rating

Basildon Golf Course
A lovely mature Parkland course sat in the art of Basildon providing a green oasis for golfers. past 72 and just under 6300 yards long, Basildon is the ideal opportunity for golfers to enjoy the best value for money in Essex. A lovely spacious welcoming clubhouse with Costa coffee and tasty snacks and a fully licensed bar available throughout the day. First class.Reviewer Rating

Shame about the weather
We played one midweek evening and it finally rained for the first time in a long while. This meant some of the greens had some very wet patches on them. You could not see them, but they stopped your ball! Course is hilly, but interesting. I enjoyed the round despite the wet conditions. I would go back again.Reviewer Rating

Poor
The course has got to be one of the worse in essex. Greens have tons of pitch marks not repaired, bunkers have hardly any sand and Flag poles are made from over flow pipe! For ?37 it's not worth the line at all. Took nearly 4 and a half hours and we teed off at 7! Clubhouse is brilliant and the staff behind it are what makes this place bearable. But won't be rushing back to play it that's for sureReviewer Rating

A good test of golf it has a bit of everything
A good municipal mature tree lined hilly parkland course with undulating fairways with some tight fairways & dogleg holes with fairway bunkers & true greens. Don’t remember seeing any water hazards. There are some lateral ditches so course management comes into play on some of the holes. The greens, fairways & bunkers were all in good condition. Not much rough due to the trees.
You will find practice putting green, driving nets & friendly staff. Overall a good challenge.
Sadly no racks for the bunkers. We paid £12 with a free paint of beer. At £27 is about normal now days.
A good test of golf it has a bit of everything. It's had a lot of money spent on it in the last couple of years and it's now paying off. It gets thumbs up from me. Definitely worth playing. 4 Oct 2023

Sad but True - Its going Downhill rapidly
We have played Basildon so many times over the past decade or so on Weekdays and Weekends. Its now official it's money first despite the shocking fact that the powers to be are letting the course drift to such a poor standard. Some of the greens were completely unplayable with tyre tracks all over them. Our society was charged £39 for a microwaved bacon roll and the privelage of playing a course which has now disintegrated into such a state. It's very sad, some people really need to look at themselves and get this changed before it's too late. I know a lot of investment went into the clubhouse, that's no good if the course is now terrible. Such a shame.Reviewer Rating

Nice course in good condition. Quite a few holes where you really need to think about positioning farther than just how far you can hit it off the tee. Would definitely recommend.Reviewer Rating

Decent public course
Basildon is my local course and so I have played it regularly over the years. This time it was very dry and with many fairways sloping across the line it proved a very tough challenge to stop the ball running off them. The greens were in decent condition, but the rest of the course needs some water on it.Reviewer Rating

JANUARY GOLF
Played Friday 5th December - most other Golf Clubs in the area closed due to too much rain, but Basildon GC was open ?28.00 each - it was nice to play after a month, but the course should have been closed - parts are a mudbath, much damage is being done to the course, understand they need money but...... Will not play there again, in near future - until weather is betterReviewer Rating

Great Challenge
What i love about Basildon is the Challenge it provides every time i play it. It is a great challenge to post a good round and score especially as it is hardly on the flat like many other courses. With Basildon you have to perfect uphill and downhill lies and can easily stray off the fairways and endure recovery shots to maintain a decent round . I consider it a workout of ensuring you remain alert and not over confident to the very last green . Take your foot of the pedal and relax on 16th tee and you will be punished.Reviewer Rating

Ok but slightly disappointing
Greens weren't in a very good condition and tees looked like they hadn't been cared for very much. Course maintenance in general seemed a bit lacking. The slopes on a lot of holes made it quite interesting and a good challenge. Bar/kitchen staff were friendly and pizza was very good. Pity about the extremely loud music blaring across from the fitness centre near the clubhouse.Reviewer Rating
