Golf Course Reviews for Basildon Golf Club
The course is in much better condition than expected. The greens are still soft and run true, tee boxes are also in good condition. Tricky course but enjoyable.
cant beat twilight price of £12 for 18 holes and a pint.
Having not played this course for over a year I was sceptical before the round. £12 for 18 holes and a drink (twilight) was hard to turn down though. I was pleasantly surprised, the fairways are solid but not as barren as many other courses around at the moment. The tee boxes are the best I have played on since the heat wave started and the greens are soft and quick. Did hear that they were putting money into the course and you can tell. Also the clubhouse is having an extensions so will be good to come back when that has been completed. I'd recommend playing if you are in the area - still a tricky course with lots of hills so its tough to control the ball on the fairway at the moment.

An absolute bargain for a pay and play course. Challenging holes and good greens.

For me probably in the top five of Essex courses and am a 1 hcap so I've played a few courses
Excellent course with greens in very good condition, the club house is undergoing some extension but in general a very good course with very good driving range and practice area.
(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 94 Handicap: 19.8)
Fabulous course in excellent condition spoilt by the pace of play. Really needs a marshal on the course to ensure players keep up with the group ahead or let faster groups through.
(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 89 Handicap: 18.9)
Course in excellent condition fairways and greens. Staff are great, not many better course locally
(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 98 Handicap: 24.1)
Course it very challenging but scoreable to.
No hole is the same and the slopes are very interesting. Shots have to be thought about, you cannot just get up and hit the ball, loving it atm

I have to be honest and say that Basildon Golf course fell off my radar about 10 years ago, and at the time I was playing here almost every week, but the course and clubhouse was not being looked after properly, so I almost just forgot the place existed. All I can say is a very well done to the new owners, the course was back to its "Pristine" best. Looked gorgeous and still remains one of the most challenging courses to play in Essex, I will be back.
(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 88 Handicap: 11.1)
I've been playing this course on and off for the last 30 years. I've seen the worst and best of this course. I must say it is getting back to it's best, not there yet, but going in the right direction.
First time playing this course, always one that had a bit of a negative reputation historically but you can tell the new owners have invested money into improving and maintaining the course. Good value and only downside was a group of kids stealing balls and the flag stick on holes 13-15. Not really much the club can do as it is a public access course but took the report seriously when brought up at the end of my round. Would play again for sure and the putting area by the club house is a big positive for the club. I found the course itself nicely challenging.
I love this course and it is great to see that the members have taken control and are giving but some TLC.
The welcome was warm and the ladies serving food and beer are very friendly and helpful.
The clubhouse is getting an extension so it looks a bit untidy outside but it is fine inside.
The weather in the run up had been horrendous with lots of rain and so the course was very soggy with no run on the drives and slow greens.
But enjoyable anyway.
