What The Club Says
Banstead Downs is a downland course built on chalk. It has a reputation for being an "all year round" venue and rarely is the course unfit for play. The course has been designated an area of Special Scientific Interest because of the natural flora and fauna. The fairways have a natural undulation and good definition.

Challenging layout with a Scottish Feel
This was my third time playing Banstead Downs. It's a classic James Braid course which is why it feels Scottish in nature, although not so much with the recent dry conditions. The course is holding up well with good grass coverage, albeit yellow, around the course. I played a week on from greens maintenance and they had recovered well. It's a tough driving course with bunkers in just the wrong places off the tee. But drive well and you can score well. I get such a friendly welcome in the pro shop. It is certainly somewhere I would joini if I get bored of my current place.Reviewer Rating

Finally getting back to good condition
After last years hard summer and then the very difficult wet conditions over the winter, Banstead Downs is finally getting back to it's best. Tee boxes are always very good, fairways have been the problem due to the last years weather, but are now almost fully recovered. Greens, having been the worst I have ever seen them earlier in the year, all the hard work by the green keepers is paying off and they are getting back to their best, if still a little, fraction slower than normal.Reviewer Rating

Nice tight course.
Enjoyed a round here. Tees in good nick, fairways too. Greens been dressed and filled and running true. A bit slow maybe. Also quite dry so bouncing quite a bit. Overall a nice courseReviewer Rating

Two days down pour course still playable.
Played on a Sunday afternoon following two days of heavy rain. The course was closed in the morning but opened in the afternoon. Given the weather the course held up ok. A couple of bunkers were flooded.Generally the fairways were in good condition, but unfortunately some tee boxes were full of divots and the greens were quite bumpy and a few where also patchy.

Decent long course with some pretty holes and challenging greens in terms of borrow/speed. Excellent practice facilities although the greenside bunkers were pretty devoid of sand. Wide enough to hit driver on most despite lines of trees/woods. The course involves crossing a busy dual carriage way twice , quite scary but not noisy despite proximity of roads.Reviewer Rating
