What the club says: Anstruther Golf Club was founded in 1890 and has seen many changes over the years. The initial layout comprised 7 holes with trenches through the middle of the course and poles scattered over the greens to stop gliders landing during the war. In more peaceful times the course was extended to an excellent 9 holes which is kept in superb condition throughout the year.

The course is located 9 miles south of St Andrews and stretches along the shoreline between Anstruther and Pittenweem. The spectacular views over Anstruther Harbour and out to the Isle of May, Bass rock and south west to Edinburgh are a constant distraction. Golfers should beware of Anstruther Golf Club’s version of Amen corner which comprises a series of 3 challenging par 3’s starting with The Rockies (5th) voted the toughest par 3 in the UK!

Quirky & fun.

The Par 3 5th has to be played to be believed!

Small but immaculate links course. No Par 5's but the terrain and coastal position make much of this course a test - particularly the challenging fifth "rockies" par three hole

Played may times and is a great 9 hole course for a quick round of golf when St Andrews has so few. Thoroughly recommend

Great course better condition than leaven links which for a championship qualifying course is bare in places

A delightful little course. The 5th is apparently the hardest Par 3 in the UK. It certainly is beautiful...but I found the 7th harder!

Nice little club house with excellent views across to the town. Holes 1 and 9 are a little sheltered with the other holes very open. I thought the rockies was a par four until after the round, in that case its a very tough par 3.

Strong winds make some of the Par 3s virtually impossible. Hole 5 - the Rockies, is regarded as the toughest Par 3 in Scotland
