Feature Review - Linden Hall Golf Club

By: Tom Furniss | Tue 04 Nov 2008

"Linden Hall presents a real challenge to all level of golfers. A long course (particularly off the back tees), there are many varied hotels which really make you think about your shot off the tee box without constantly reaching for the driver. Even the short Par 3's present a challenge due to the presence of water hazards around all of them.

Highlights of the course are the double dog leg Par 5 13th (a true 3 shots to the green thinking mans hole), the newly refurbished Par 3 7th with a wicked green which slopes your ball towards the inviting water hazard, and the tricky Par 4 18th which requires a drive of length and accuracy to give you any chance of a shot into the green which is well protected by huge mature trees, a burn and some feisty bunkers.

Recent investment in the course is now starting to show fruition and the mature parkland setting around the beautiful Linden Hall is a real treat.

The friendly laid back attitude of the staff is good (no snobbery here) and the pro shop and locker rooms are modern and well kept. The lack of a dedicated club house for the golfers is the only real downside - a seperate small bar within the on site food orientated pub being the only 19th facilities on offer. However with a 10% discount for golfers in the bar on drinks and food, they do try and make up for this.

Overall an excellent golfing experience in a cracking part of the country."
