Divoting Day Success

Mendip’s first divoting day on Monday 26th March was a great success with the whole course being treated in under 4 hours. Glorious Spring sunshine brought over 20 members to the Golf Course who were then rewarded with a lunch after their hard work. Special thanks go to Richard Jeffery for his hard work and organisation of this successful event.

Mendip ladies have played their last winter competition before the summer playing  season gets under way . The results of the Bowmaker show that the ladies are ready for the season ahead. The winning team of Edwina Willis, Patricia Rawlins and Joan Clark scored 85 points beating Liz  Rose, Diana Stevenson and Caroline Laws into second place with 83 points . Gill Brown and Jenny Merrett successfully played in the first round of the Daily Mail Foursomes at Mendip they won 4 and 3 against Bristol and Clifton golf club.

The Spring Open Bowmaker was a great success with 126 members and visitors enjoying the glorious sunshine last Friday. 1st place went to visiting team J Parker, G Pimm and S New from Filton GC with 90 points. 2nd went to Mendip members J Hodder, B Smallcombe and F Davidson with 87 points. 3rd spot went to M Carter, N Burrows and P Bowe from Filton GC with 85 points.

The March Tankard at the Weekend was well supported with over a 120 gents taking part. Tom Hurst won division one with 37 points, second went to John Longman with 36 points and third was Pat Meatyard with 36 points. Division two was won by Doug Badenoch with 38 points, second went to John McGlone with 38 points and third was Simon Whittle with 36 points. Division three winner was Ray Ashman with 36 points, second went to Paul Carmichael with 36 points and third was Jim Boyce with 34 points.
