After celebrating the 20th anniversary of his Open Championship victory at St. Andrews next month, 1995 Champion John Daly is to make an appearance at the 32nd World Amateur Handicap Championship, Aug 31-Sept 4, in Myrtle Beach, USA.

Daly will serve tournament participants his new signature John Daly Cocktail, sign autographs, and play music on stage in World Am Live. He will also participate in radio shows and broadcast his own show, ‘Hit it Hard with John Daly' from the World Amateur’s HQ, the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

The Arkansas resident’s new lemonade and vodka drink, which comes in three flavours (sweet tea, peach tea and raspberry tea), is the official cocktail of the ‘World’s Largest 19th Hole'. Daly will be personally calling on golfers to ‘Grip it and Sip it’ and event organisers will also be offering participants a free bottle of the drink at registration.

“These people come to play golf all day and have a great time at night, in a place that I love,” said Daly. “This is a great opportunity for me to embrace the true core customer of my brand.”

The World Am consists of 72 holes of handicapped and flighted stroke-play competition Monday, Aug. 31 through Thursday, Sept. 3, with the top players from each flight reaching the Championship Round on Friday, Sept. 4.

More than 50 of Myrtle Beach’s best courses are used for a field that is expected to include players from all 50 states of America and from more than 30 countries. The deadline for entry is June 25, at the regular price of $525.
