Faldo Series Set for Final Stop of the UK Season at Hollinwell

The Faldo Series will conclude its UK season next week when it returns to Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) on August 18-20. A full field of 82 boys and 11 girls has already been confirmed for the 54-hole England Midlands Championship.

“This year we’ve introduced larger fields and 54-hole events to our UK schedule which has added an extra psychological dimension for the players while also enabling them to compete for precious World Amateur Golf Ranking points,” said Sir Nick Faldo. “We are excited about returning to Hollinwell for the final event of the UK season, it’s a venue I know well having won my fifth European Tour title there. It will be an excellent test for all the players and I am looking forward to spending time with the winners at the Grand Final in October.”

Former finalists Marco Penge and Sophie Madden are amongst the stellar field at Hollinwell, which features a number of other past finalists and England squad members. The winner of each division – three boys and a girl – plus the girls’ runner-up will join Faldo at the season-ending 18th Faldo Series Grand Final at The Greenbrier, USA.

Supported by The R&A, ISPS Handa, The European Tour and The Greenbrier the 2014 Faldo Series Europe schedule features 17 tournaments in 15 countries including three in England plus others in Abu Dhabi, Ireland, Chile, Wales, Brazil, Scotland, Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and the USA.

Established in 1996, 40 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 30 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year.  Past winners include Major Champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.
