Golf Care reaches 100'000 policy landmark

By: | Mon 29 Oct 2012

JRW Group : Press Release

The JRW Group, industry-leaders in specialist sports insurance, recently celebrated their landmark 100,000th policy holder with an evening of celebrations hosted by three-time Ryder Cup Captain, Bernard Gallacher at The Urbis Building in Manchester, the home of the National Football Museum. Over the past 14 years, The JRW Group has forged a formidable position in the golf industry thanks to its diverse portfolio of market-leading brands, spearheaded by the UK’s largest golf insurer, Golf Care. Represented in an official capacity by Gallacher, Golf Care continues to experience considerable growth following an extensive marketing campaign across such high-profile media platforms as TalkSport Radio and the Sky Sports TV network.

“Reaching 100,000 policies is a significant milestone and represents the giant strides we have made as a company in recent years as well as the increased awareness golfers have of sports insurance,” commented John Woosey, Managing Director, The JRW Group. “We’re delighted that people are seeking out Golf Care, which is a direct result not only of the level of coverage each policy provides, but also the value. However, there are still a lot of golfers taking to the golf course without being properly insured. We hope that through better education all golfers will come to realise the value of golf insurance.”

In terms of general awareness, no one event had more impact than a court ruling last year in Scotland, when a golfer was awarded a staggering £397,000 in damages after being struck by a wayward shot that cost him the sight in one eye. The case reverberated throughout the industry, as the sport no longer acknowledged the shouting of ‘fore’ as a means of relinquishing blame for causing damage to another player and/or property. Although Golf Care has recorded impressive sales figures since, surveys show that nine out of 10 golfers are still insufficiently insured.

Golf Care was launched in 2004, but has quickly established itself as the largest specialist golf insurer in the UK. Its instant success has been facilitated through a commitment to competitive pricing and the provision of added value to the customer. As part of the extensive JRW Group portfolio, Golf Care is able to provide customers with low premiums and three free rounds of golf vouchers with every policy. The company now insures in excess of £150 million worth of golf equipment, which is underwritten at Lloyd’s of London, the world’s specialist insurance market.

The company’s success has led to the development and expansion of their entire sport portfolio, outside of golf, highlighted by the introduction of Insure4Sport, an insurance product for sports coaches, individuals and teams. The product has also thrived in recent years, given the growing number of sporting injuries and thefts taking place. Insure4Sport has Rugby World Cup Winning Coach, Sir Clive Woodward as its sporting ambassador.
