Letters’ Bolster Stable of Players in 2012

By: Golf Shake | Mon 17 Sep 2012

4612-jlJohn Letters’ latest staff player Paul Wesselingh finished in a tie for third place at the French Riviera Masters on the European Senior Tour and continued his good run of form to remain on-course for Rookie of the year.

Wesselingh recorded rounds of 71, 69 and 69 at Terre Blance Resort and Golf Club to finish -7 under par and just a shot back from eventual Champion D J Russell. The result takes Paul up to 5th place on the Order of Merit with just two events remaining and in pole position for the European Senior Tour Rookie of year award.

PGA Senior’s Champion, Wesselingh is one of the newest recruits to the John Letters playing staff and the news follows another successful summer for the famous Scottish brand on tour.

The equipment brand with 94 years of clubmaking history is enjoying its most successful period on tour since its golden days in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. With over 135 products in play on the seniors tour, new additions to its Tour Staff such as Wesselingh; Sam Torrance enjoying a resurgence in form and Phillip Archer doing so well on the European Challenge Tour – 2012 has been a real breakthrough year for the Scottish brand and its Master Model products, as it looks to compete among the golfing greats once again.

Wesselingh teamed up with Letters mid-way through the 2012 season and has never looked back with two top finishes in his last three events. Playing the full complement of Letters equipment including Master Model Driver, fairway, Satin irons, MM grind wedges and a Golden Goose putter – Paul made the switch to Letters after testing the products on tour and being fully custom-fitted at the John Letters performance Centre in Huddersfield in August.

John Andrew, Managing Director, commented: “We’re delighted that players of the calibre of Paul Wesselingh and Angel Franco are choosing to play John Letters – it demonstrates that we continue to produce equipment the players want to play. But as important, is the fact that as a company we make available the services usually reserved for these tour players – to players of all levels and ability - handcrafting our equipment and offering full customisation and custom fitting.”

John Letters new state-of-the-art Tour truck and team of tour technicians have just completed a summer of events starting with the PGA Seniors Championship at Slaley Hall and taking in The Open Championship, The Senior Open Championship at Turnberry, The Scottish Seniors at The Fairmont St Andrews, the British Par 3 Championship, the Speedy Services Wales Senior Open and finishing with the Travis Perkins Senior Masters at Woburn; with the famous brand picking up more fans, players and advocates of its latest products along the way.

In addition to the investment in a new state-of-the-art Tour truck and Tour support, John Letters continue to bolster its stable of staff players adding not just Paul Wesselingh, but also the charismatic Angel Franco, Andrew Sherborne and Paul Carman to Sam Torrance, Phillip Archer and Lee Shepherd.
