McIlroy Drives to Victory with Titleist at the BMW Championship

By: Golf Shake | Mon 10 Sep 2012

Titleist Press Release

World number one Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x) trusted Titleist from tee-to-green to claim his third win in four starts with a two-shot victory at the BMW Championship, following on from his successes at the Deutsche Bank and USPGA Championships in recent weeks. McIlroy closed with a final round 67 en route to a 20-under par, 268 total to take the sixth PGA Tour title of his career. It also marks a clean sweep of triumphs for Titleist Brand Ambassadors in the FedEx Cup playoff events so far, after Nick Watney (Pro V1x) also tasted victory at The Barclays. There were further wins for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the South African, Asian, Canadian, and OneAsia Tours, as McIlroy headlined a stunning five-win weekend for the #1 Ball in Golf.

McIlroy utilised a full bag of Titleist equipment to claim his fourth PGA Tour win of the season, including the Pro V1x golf ball, 913D3 driver, 913Fd prototype fairways, MB irons, Vokey Design SM4 pitching, sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron putter. McIlroy’s back-to-back FedEx Cup victories mark the third straight win for the new Titleist 913 drivers, after Titleist Brand Ambassador Nick Watney also trusted the total performance of the 913D3 driver to win The Barclays. As well as being the choice of the champion at the BMW Championship, Titleist golf balls were also the overwhelming choice of the field, with 71% of players putting their trust in the feel and control of the legendary Pro V1 franchise. Titleist equipment also topped the counts for drivers, hybrids, iron sets, wedges and putters respectively.

Elsewhere, on the South Africa Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Trevor Fisher Jnr followed up his win at last weeks’ Wild Waves Challenge with a playoff victory over Titleist Brand Ambassador Christiaan Basson (Pro V1x) at the Vodacom Origins of Golf – Northern Cape. The leading pair finished two shots clear of Titleist Brand Ambassador Doug McGuigan (Pro V1x), who finished alone in third to complete a Titleist 1-2-3. On the Asian Tour, Titleist golf ball loyalist Thaworn Wiratchant (Pro V1x) captured the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters for his record breaking 14th career title on the Asian Tour. Wiratchant closed with a final round 69, to win by three shots. On the OneAsia Tour, Matthew Griffin (Pro V1x) sealed a one stroke victory at the Charity High 1 Resort Open, edging fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists SangHyun Park (Pro V1) and KyungNam Kang (Pro V1). On the Canadian Tour, Eugene Wong (Pro V1x) continued his winning form by claiming the Great Waterway Classic just two weeks after his first career professional victory at the Canadian Tour Championship. These victories take Titleist’s 2012 worldwide golf ball win count to 127, compared to 15 for the nearest competitor.

A second consecutive PGA Tour title for Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy, coupled with further wins around the world for Titleist golf ball loyalists, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
