British Speedgolf has been growing in popularity in recent years and that positive journey is set to continue following the unveiling of its championship schedule for 2026.

Where is British Speedgolf Pairs Championship Being Played in 2026?

British Speedgolf Pairs

The 2026 season kicks off with a new venue as the British Speedgolf Pairs Championship moves to Mid Herts Golf Club on Sunday 17 May. The innovative team format continues to grow rapidly and is expected to attract its largest field to date. The pairs format, pioneered by British Speedgolf, has proved particularly popular with newcomers.

Pam Painter, Founder of British Speedgolf, said: "It’s one of the best ways to enter the sport, teaming up with a friend, colleague or family member to take on 18 holes at pace. New players consistently surprise themselves with how well they perform. It’s demanding, but most finish exhausted, yet elated and smiling."

The Solo British Speedgolf Championship Returns to Sunningdale Heath

The flagship British Speedgolf Championship returns to Sunningdale Heath Golf Club on Sunday 6 September for a fourth consecutive year. The field is capped at 70 players, all chasing the ultimate balance of pace and precision in one of the UK’s most exhilarating competitive formats. Following the successful introduction of a championship cut in 2025, the top 20 players - regardless of age, gender or status, will progress to a second round, playing 36 holes in a single day to contest the overall title.

Last year’s championship was oversubscribed, prompting the introduction of qualification pathways for 2026 to manage growing demand while maintaining inclusivity. Notably, 2025 Champion James Harding had just two months of Speedgolf experience before claiming the title, a powerful example of the format’s accessibility and competitive appeal.

With golfers increasingly embracing the concept of strokes plus time, and runners discovering a new way to compete on the golf course, Speedgolf continues to attract a unique crossover audience.

British Speedgolf Confirms Speedgolf World Championship Team

British Speedgolf has also become the first country to announce its squad for the Toro Speedgolf World Championships, hosted by Golf New Zealand in Auckland, 4-5 November 2026.

The team includes reigning Speedgolf World Cup Pairs champions and PGA professionals Luke Willett and Luke Bone, who will defend their title. Reigning British Champion James Harding, a PGA Member, strengthens the team alongside fellow PGA professional Will Robson. British Speedgolf Senior Champion Adam Williams adds depth in the men’s senior category, while Bev Fentiman, Kathy Leppard and Colette Blacklock, all amateurs but event category winners, complete a formidable selection.

One final place remains up for grabs, to be offered to a player delivering an exceptional performance this season to complete the 12-strong British Speedgolf squad.

How Big is Speedgolf?

With a growing European calendar and expanding international participation, Speedgolf’s blend of athleticism, strategy and spectacle continues to gain traction. For golfers seeking a new challenge, 2026 promises to be British Speedgolf’s biggest year yet.
