Michael Kim secured his maiden DP World Tour title after holing a 16-foot par putt at the last to win the FedEx Open de France by a single shot.

Kim saved his best until last on Sunday, firing birdies at the 16th and 17th to take the outright lead before producing a stunning up-and-down from a bunker on the 18th for an unlikely par save.

He said: "It feels amazing. I haven't won a tournament since 2018 at the John Deere Classic and I really wanted to put on a good showing here this week. And I'm just so happy and grateful that I was able to come out with the victory. I've had a really good year on the PGA Tour this year. This feels like the perfect cherry on top and I hope to continue this throughout my career."

The American's heroics on the closing hole stunned the French crowd, who were denied the chance to see home favourite Jeong weon Ko contest a play-off after he had set the target at 15 under.

With third-round co-leaders Min Woo Lee and Brooks Koepka unable to catch him at the summit over their closing holes, Kim's flawless final-round 65 proved enough for his first worldwide victory for over seven years, having last won the 2018 John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour.

He finished on 16 under par, one ahead of Australia's Elvis Smylie and home hero Ko, who fired two eagles in a breathtaking 65 of his own.

Five-time major champion Koepka finished fourth on 14 under.

Who is Michael Kim?

Kim was born on July 14, 1993 in Seoul, South Korea but was raised in San Diego.

He attended the University of California, where he was a teammate of Max Homa.

On June 2, 2013, he became the first University of California male golfer to win national player of the year when he won the 2013 Jack Nicklaus Award.

On June 11, 2013, Kim won the Haskins Award, given to the national player of the year in men's college golf and selected by voting from players, coaches and members of the national media.

Kim qualified for the 2013 US Open, finished tied for 17th and was the low amateur.

He turned professional in December 2013 and had limited status on the 2014 Web.com Tour after finishing T-56 at the tour’s qualifying tournament. He played in 17 events, making the cut in 11 with the best finish of tied second.

He played on the Web.com Tour again in 2015 and finished 13th on the money list, earning a full-time membership to the PGA Tour for 2016.

Kim has been a full-time member of the PGA Tour since 2016, and won his first PGA Tour event at the 2018 John Deere Classic by eight shots, setting the tournament scoring record. In the process, he earned the final invitation to the 2018 Open.

Kim missed 19 cuts in 20 events on the PGA Tour in 2019 and fell to 502nd in the world rankings.

In the 2020-21 season, he made only nine cuts in 30 starts and lost his full PGA Tour Card. In 2021-22, Kim returned to the Korn Ferry Tour and regained his PGA Tour card for the 2022-23 PGA Tour season.

He finished tied second at the 2025 Phoenix Open. He also has three other top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour in 2025 and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Tour Championship. He has made 252 starts, making 125 cuts, winning once, finishing second once, third once, having seven top fives and 13 top 10s. He is 31st in the FedEx Cup standings and ranked 64th in the world.

His victory at the French Open was his first on the DP World Tour.
