Who is Playing in The 2025 Dunhill Links
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship has long been a highlight of the golfing calendar each season on Scotland's east coast, bringing together some of the biggest names in the game alongside intriguing personalities from the wider world of sport, business and entertainment in a pro-am format that runs adjacent to one of the most lucrative tournaments this side of the Atlantic.
Dating back to the old days of the Dunhill Cup, 2025 marks 40 years since this relationship began with the legendary Old Course, and the next edition promises to be one of the most exciting yet as it edges ever closer.
Played across the spiritual home of golf, the modern classic of Kingsbarns, and the fearsome test of Carnoustie, the frequent autumn chill does little to diminish what is an event defined by its festive feel within the iconic town of St Andrews.
Despite being played the week after the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York, several European stars are among those who will be participating as the DP World Tour season heads towards its conclusion, while the amateur section of the field includes many familiar faces, including one revered sportsman ready to make his debut.
Let's take a closer look at who is set to compete in the 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Professional Golfers
Four of Europe's Ryder Cup players in 2025 have entered the Dunhill in October, including the defending champion, three-time winner, Tyrrell Hatton, who simply loves this event.
You could say the same for Matt Fitzpatrick, who won both the individual title and the team competition with his mother, Susan, in 2023. The Yorkshireman will be back for another bow on the links, this time paired up with his father, Russell.
Tommy Fleetwood, who has become a Dunhill stalwart, will also be playing just weeks after he secured the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup in Atlanta, while Scotland's number one, Robert MacIntyre, will once more be determined to triumph on home soil as he unforgettably accomplished at the Renaissance Club in 2024.
Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington (who has twice lifted this title) will be hoping to turn back the clock, while popular American Tony Finau is also making the journey across the Atlantic.
Impressive South African Aldrich Potgieter, who claimed his maiden success on the PGA Tour earlier this year, is also participating, while championship supremo Johann Rupert has once more welcomed a significant cohort of LIV golfers into the event.
These include five-time major winner Brooks Koepka, former Masters champions Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson and Partrick Reed, and Germany's Martin Kaymer, who took the individual Dunhill Links title back in 2010. That same year, it was Louis Oosthuizen who grasped the Claret Jug on the Old Course, and the South African returns to the Auld Grey Toun once more.
Similar can be said of Cameron Smith, who unforgettably claimed the 150th Open at St Andrews in 2022, as the Australian will make a return to the scene of his greatest triumph this autumn.
Those are just some of the most notable names in the field thus far, alongside the best of the regular DP World Tour, with more set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Amateur Team Players
Many will be excited to see that tennis great Sir Andy Murray will make his debut in the Dunhill Links this October.
Twice Wimbledon champion, a US Open winner, and two-time Olympic gold medallist, Murray has embraced golf since his retirement, playing in the Wednesday Pro-Am at Wentworth last year, and will take that to another level when he competes across these three famous courses in his homeland.
He said: "I’m really looking forward to this. It’s very special to be able to play in a full blown professional event, and for a Scot like me to be able to do it in Scotland at such a unique location makes it even more exceptional. In many ways the Old Course at St Andrews is very like Centre Court at Wimbledon. They both have the same historic feel and atmosphere that just doesn’t exist in many sporting venues around the world. It will be a pleasure to be able to savour that."
Murray has already had a taste of success on the Old Course, having recently made an eagle on the 18th during the filming of a new programme for Callaway.
The appearance of a Scottish sporting icon will be sure to bring the crowds to each of the venues, which are free and open for spectators to attend during the first three days, with only the concluding Sunday at St Andrews being ticketed.
Joining Murray in the amateur portion of the field are music stars Ronan Keating, Huey Lewis, Tico Torres, Mike Rutherford, and Tom Chaplin, and actors Kathryn Newton and Matthew Goode.
Bill Murray may divide opinion, but the American actor is back for a tenth appearance, while Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones are other stars of the screen participating this week.
With major champions, Ryder Cup favourites, and Andy Murray in attendance, the 2025 Dunhill Links has the potential to be a classic.
