Stadium Golf Tour Announced For The UK

By: | Thu 23 Mar 2023

A new Stadium Golf Tour has been announced for the UK, where amateur golfers will be offered the opportunity of playing in some of the region’s finest sports stadiums.

The project is a partnership between US-based golf company, Stadium Golf Tour, and Maverick Sports + Entertainment, a sports marketing firm.

The home of England Rugby, Twickenham Stadium, will be the first UK venue to host the tour, which will take place during June 8-11.

The Stadium Golf Tour is an American venture that has been highly successful across the Atlantic.

When the tour lands on English shores, Twickenham will be the first venue, and golfers will be able to experience the stadium like never before.

It will be transformed into a nine-hole golf course, but there are plenty of surprises along the way - including a brand-new scoring system.

Golfers won’t be walking around the pitch aimlessly, as there are nine tee boxes situated on specially constructed platforms dotted around the grounds.

The scoring system revolves completely around proximity to the hole, meaning the closer you get, the better you’ll score.

Those who participate - which is suggested to be north of 7,000 - will be able to experience the iconic stadium in a completely new light, whilst competing with groups up to eight at a time.

There are plenty of other added incentives too, as golfers will be able to partake in a putting and chipping challenge, gain access to golf simulators and entry into ‘The Clubhouse’.

As an additional bonus, Twickenham Stadium is currently preparing hospitality packages to ensure golfers can make the most of their time - including tours of the changing rooms.

Nils Braude, Managing Director, Twickenham Experience Limited, noted: “This is an incredible partnership, which will turn an 82,000-seater stadium into a visionary, powerful and exciting golf course.

“We’re delighted to form a pivotal role in such an innovative tour. Everyone at Twickenham will make sure we play our part by offering great hospitality and experience to every one of the golfers that comes and plays at the Home of England Rugby.”

Michael Wiggins, President of the Stadium Golf Tour, believes Twickenham is the perfect inclusion.

“We wanted to kick off the UK Tour by going to some amazing stadium with great fan bases, so Twickenham is right on top of the list.”

The Stadium Golf Tour will arrive at Twickenham between June 8-11, with five other venues yet to be announced.

Tickets will go on presale at 9am Thursday 30 March, with public sale being released three hours later.
