A Guide to Playing the Bunkers at Carnoustie

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 15 Aug 2018

The Championship Course at Carnoustie is widely regarded as being among the best bunkered golf courses in the world. The bunkers are widespread and extremely well placed, serving as a constant threat during a round and stick firmly in the mind of a player when they are plotting their strategy around the famous links.

Ahead of the 2018 Open Championship, Golfshake's Owen Davies had the chance to play Carnoustie and created a video series documenting many of its most notable features, including The Greatest Finish in Golf - Holes 16, 17 and 18 - in addition to an individual breakdown of each.

On the 14th hole - the par five known as Spectacles - Owen demonstrates the challenge of the bunkers of Carnoustie, and how they will influence the approach of a player, whether it be in the Open, Dunhill Links, or any other major event hosted at the venue. Should you be planning a visit to play this revered venue, this guide should hopefully be a helpful assist.
