Ian Poulter Determined to Succeed in Open at Carnoustie

Ian Poulter was speaking at the unveiling of American Golf and Mastercard's 'Priceless' golf campaign ahead of The Open Championship, and the Englishman spoke of his determination to continue his encouraging form this season and potentiall lift the Claret Jug at Carnoustie.

During the American Golf and Mastercard campaign, anyone who makes a purchase with Mastercard at an American Golf store or online at americangolf.co.uk between 18^th and 30^th June 2018 will be entered into a prize draw to win a luxury trip to The Open at Carnoustie, courtesy of Mastercard. Poulter was appearing at the new American Golf store in Milton Keynes when he spoke about his hopes for the coming event, “Having had to go through qualifying last year, I’m glad to be back in the top 30 and heading to Carnoustie on the back of some decent form. It was great to get a win in Houston earlier in the year and I’ve had a good season so far. Despite the conditions at Shinnecock I’m pleased with my performance at the U.S. Open. It’s a shame that the course and the conditions didn’t provide the most fair test of golf but given the circumstances I’m happy with the way I played.”

Concluding his appearance at the American Golf store in Milton Keynes, Poulter commented, ”If the wind gets up, Carnoustie can be a severe test of golf, but it’s the conditions that can go against you rather than the course. I was T27 the last time the Open was there and if I continue striking the ball well it’s a course I can do well on.  Whoever wins the competition with American Golf and Mastercard is in for a real treat. To win at Carnoustie you have to play great golf.  I just hope that I can continue my form for the year and they get to see me with a smile on my face at the end of the week.”
