I don't think there are any set fast rules but I'd say low handicappers are 9 and below, medium 10 - 22 and high 23 and above.  That's just my opinion and i'm sure there will be many different ideas out there.  As for club choice I'd suggest doing what I did.  Pop down your local pro shop with a range and hit all the different clubs.  You'll eventually find the one that suits you and like me it may be one you've never considered.

Low handicap 0-6  mid handicap 6-12 high handicap 12-18. No healthy man or woman should need more than 1 extra shot per hole. Most of the guys I play with who have handicaps in the 20's still manage 6 or 7 pars per round and really only lose most shots on 2 or 3 holes due to bad course management, putting or the odd duff shot. looking at your last round in october you scored 44 points. I'd say that makes you 18 handicap easily.

As for clubs for you, I'd say go try as many as poss at a driving range maybe direct golf at huddersfield where they have a driving range.

Have a go with the ping G20's they're easy to hit and not too expensive. Thay'll last you til you get down to single figures.
