Who's your favourite player?

Posted by: user420026 | Fri 13th Jan 2012 21:47 | Last Reply

I'm a bit bored and have been watching youtube golf clips - some wonderful stuff. Who's your favourite golfer and why? I have a top three; Jimenez - simply because I love his attitude towards golf and life, Faldo - a legend and he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him and Tiger - genius coupled with an unshakeable confidence (at his peak). Yours?

Faldo is my favorite, remember all his majors and won £65 on his last masters victory. Cheers Nick.

Anyone know why no sign of him on the champions tour or is he happy counting his money on the PGA panel?

Dave CAC handed Geordie.

Dave - I think he is getting involved in coaching and stuff....

Im of a younger generation so cant have a top 3 without Mr woods.

Luke Donald and Ian Poulter (mainly for the way he carries himself during the Ryder cup) are my top 3. Would be hard to pick just 1

Got to be Seve for me.  Always played the game as it should be; with a smile on his face, enjoyment in his heart and respect for everyone else on the course.  His ability to create something from anywhere for me is the measure of a truly great golfer.

Tom Watson. I had the pleasure of watching him in his prime, and well remember the last two days of the 1977 Open at Turnberry. The '77 Open is, for me, the best Open ever. Two of the best golfers in the world hitting peak form at the business end of a Major. For them to finish 10 shots clear of 3rd place pretty much sums up the quality of their golf.

Watson's swing in '77 compared to now shows little in the way of change. He still has the excessive(?) left knee movement and a very full turn. His right foot stays planted for longer but there's no mistaking the swing.

Then there's his attitude to golf, the fans and the media. A genuinely nice guy.

Of the modern golfers it's Luke Donald. A  very unfussy swing - spot a fault in it if you can, and a short game to just die for. And, again, a tremendous attitude to the game and all its trappings.

Dave, have you noticed the way Hogan's left foot spins forward... not sure what he was like  before he had the car accident... did he have so much hip movement pre-accident?

Sevé. No other golfer could come close to the legend...
