custom fitting.

did custom fitting help you? did it do what the rumours say and knock shots off your scores?

Liam, I'm a pretty average golfer playing off a 10 handicap mainly becuase I still have a decent shortgame.  My son is an eilte junior golfer.  All of his clubs have been custom fit since he was about 10 or 11 and I think there is a clear benefit to his game. 

I never bother for myself.  The reason?  He has a consistent swing which he can reproduce time after time. I'm not that good and so custom fitting doesn't have the same benefit to me.  That said, somewhere like the Belfry refunds the custom fitting cost against any clubs you buy from them so I guess it can't  do any harm.

I'd certainly suggest custom fitting to anyone.  We're all different shape and size so it's obvious that we'd require different size clubs.  I've had 3 sets of clubs.  The first 2 were bought from the internet not custom fitted.  I've now got a fully custom fitted set and my handicap has come down 9 shots since buying them 10 months ago.  My game has definitely improved with them.

Ben your game has come on in leaps and bounds. 4-5 months ago you were shootong low 100s and high 90s. Now you are braking 80. What else have you done apart from custom fitting? Lessons, More practice?

Dave, Not had any lessons but have received some very good advice and tips from friends which have changed my swing and therefore improved my game loads.  Plus being a member at a club now I get to play/practice so much more.
