MAke sure you have the correct course in your GPS.  Has been known for some people to get on the first tee and find it's 44,000 yds to the first green.  No names.....

Best put another set of waterproofs, umbrella, hand-warmers and your thermals on the list Brian.  A small dinghy probably wouldn't go amiss based on past experiences...

It's early September in the Ramowski household.  Darren's meeting at the coffee shop has been cancelled and his mind starts to work due to boredom.  Adam is off trying some clubs Golfshake have been given to review (he's the only one thay can use them well enough to do it) and no-one is around to stop Darren doing something the rest of us will regret.

"We haven't really had any Golfshake events this year.  What can I do?" Darren ponders.  "We had the N v S, but it was warm for that.  I need to put things right"

Darren looks at the Postman Pat calendar over his desk and sees that the wet dark months of Autumn are nearly upon us.  A dimly lit lightbulb appears over his head.

"I know, I'll put a Golfshake comp together for late October.  It'll be getting dark and the weather has a good chance of being rubbish.  That guy at Staverton Park has been offering me some good deals to try to tempt me back there, we can go there".  Then the lightbulb starts to dim

"With my history, and after the wild weather at last Golfshake event at Staverton Park, who will put their name down for an event there in October?"  Then, the lightbulb lights like a 10,000 watt floodlight

"Got it!!!  I'l make it an invitational event.  If it's exclusive, everyone will want to play.  When someone is invited and can't make it, I'll have a random draw for the others who want to play, like a lottery.  They'll feel like they are lucky to go.  Genius!!!"

Darren lets out an evil "Mwahahaha!!!", has another sip of espresso, dons his wooden mask and begins his well practiced and usually successful rain dance.......

Dave, the choice was shoes for the grandaughter or beer vouchers... we breed 'em tough oop norf. New shoes planned for next year...

And the forecast is good to damp with a splash of tsunami. Must remember the armbands and flippers.

@ Tim,

never going to live that down!

Also check to make sure what kind of spikes the course will allow you to play. I turned up one year at an event with metal spikes & was told 5 mins before my tee time that I couldn't go out on the course in them. Ended up borrowing a spare set of shoes from the pro shop!!!

John - I know that instance has become folklore now, but I was with someone just the other day who did exactly the same thing...

Tim,

That should never happen to me again hopefully as the Skycaddie SGX comes preloaded with 30,000 courses.
