Rescue clubs

Posted by: user16742 | Fri 13th Jul 2007 10:41 | Last Reply

Last night i played, ended up playing hte back section with a guy who's off 11 anyways he left me to it for  a few holes then started to help with yardages/ where to aim and clubs was very useful and it did help me.
But after the round he said that he noticed i used my &qu
ot;wood" rescue club a few ti mes from the rough, where he thought i should have used a 5 iron. it want like rough rough, but i dunno.
I thought thats what rescue clubs are for?

I have a 21 and 36 deg hybrid's (RAM demon X) and although im new to the game every now and again i connect with one....  they work a treat...

The current issue of Todays Golfer have the Hybrid under test and give an unbaised view on x amount of clubs tested.  they also had a piece on 3/4 golfers playing with  them who didnt think they were any good....

its worth a read.

You just have to learn to hit them thats all..... (Thats what i tell myself anyway!)

I personally carry 3 of them.

A Cobra Baffler 2R which is ideal as a get out of jail free card if your drive is short, 2 RAM Wizard 3 & 4 irons which I simply use instead of their long iron equivalent simply because they are easier to hit.  I have been using this combination for about a year and have now retired the 5 wood as I was using the Cobra in all the places I used to use the 5 wood and it had started to take root in the bag.

Regarding the Wizards they are on special at Discount Golf:

To be honest there are better on the market and I intend to replace mine when I have some spare cash, but at £13 it is difficult to complain.

Liam,

You  are right the artlicle is interesting.

Personally I own a Cobra Baffler and have tried the new DWS (the one they rate as the best) and can't really feel much difference (this may have something to do with my lack of talent and ability).  Because the DWS is the new one you can pick up the old Baffler on e-may for £50 - £70 rather than £100 for the DWS.  Might be worth a look.

I only carry the one utility now - a 21* Ram Evolution that I picked up for £20.

It's a great piece of gear that I can knock 160 yards without too much effort. the only draw back I find is that my shots don't go high enough to land softly on the green.

tried that Wayne. It worked a treat, high and straight to approx 150 yards.

Just what I was after. Cheers..

I have a Taylormade No3 19 Degree Rescue Club that I use from light rough and also on the fairway instead of my 3 & 4 irons, hitting it approx 180-190 yards. Personally I find that I am far more consistent with it than with my long irons.

I too have invested in a taylormade no3 rescue, ian, what a club it is too, much easier to use than a 3 iron off the fairway

I wish i got one sooner.
