Winter is approaching

Posted by: user264761 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Mon 17th Oct 2011 11:33 | Last Reply

With the cold days coming, what does the winter do for your golf game?

Involved in winter leagues? Use the time to really practice hard ready for the warm weather to return? Or seek warmer climates elsewhere?

Also how does your course hold up? Temporary greens are my big annoyance along with the artificial tees they put down! Not for me!

Used to go to Portugal regularly for a winter break ( only 1 week), but now stay at home. RAF Waddington course receives very little wear and tear that it remains in good condition throughout winter. No temp'y greens or artificial tees  needed and we stay off it when frosty. I enjoy winter golf as much as summer and from the look of my play, my scores don't rise to any great extent in winter. Hurt my wrist playing tennis this summer so am looking forward to some painfree golf in the Autumn.

I play a couple of times a month, maybe take a full month off... I hate the cold.

We go onto the short course Oct 1st, 6200 par 72 sss71. Very rarely see winter greens - typical links course, the sea air is slightly warmer and the salt keeps the ice away-ish.
