Does an eagle count if you don't putt ?
Following on from Dave's post what's your best eagle streak. Does it count if you don't putt

I'd say that by definition, anything two under par is an eagle. If it was a par 4, and you chipped in for a 2 what would you call it? An aggressive sparrow??http://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.gif" title="laugh" width="20" />

Surely it's cheating chipping in and you've got to get on the green under regulation and then 1 putt not that I will ever do it!
My 2 eagles kind of felt cheap and dirty. Both shorter par 4s due to winter temp greens and chip ins from about 100 yards ish.
I'm sure I would feel much more satisfaction if it had been a par 5, on the green in 2 and a nice 1 putt.

I've had 3 eagles and no puts for any. Two par 5's chipped in from 120 yards both times. and par 4 holed it from 160 yards. I've had a few puts for eagle but never sunk them, not being a very big hitter it's rare I hit a par 5 in 2 or a par 4 in 1.

My first eagle was a holed bunker shot, stood over the ball and thought I'm going to hole this and did. Felt pretty good as I had been waiting a while for one at the time and I'd say it counts!

It's not how you get it that counts!
All that matters is what you put on the scorecard.
So no putts means nothing, if it's an Eagle, it's an Eagle.
Yes, it would be nice to do it the conventional way but I'd take one any way I could.

Have managed 4 eagles in a long golf career. One, a hole in one (par 3), two straight in with second shot on par 4's from about 100 yds and the last straight in on a par 5 with third shot from 120 yds. So you see there wasn't a putt in sight.
