Any tips as so frustrating!!
FolksJust looking for advice. I played a medal at my home course on saturday and shot a gross 82 nett 64 on sat and won the higher catergory. I then played today in a stableford comp and was full of confidence. Id also been cut to 17! I then went out and played terrible only scoring 32 points! Just looking any advice on trying to get some consistency! Thanks.

What's terrible about "only" scoring 32 points?

Thanks guys for all the replies. I agree with all the comments. Matt i think u hit the nail on the head about putting myself under pressure. Martin i also agree its getting the time to practice these days. I was just dissapointed with my points tally james as was all over the place and scrambled the 32. Was hitting shots i thought id managed to get rid of, duff chips etc! Thanks for the advice sanders, im gona have a look for a good book!

Just look at at how inconsistent professionals are. Seriously, apart from shooting lower scores they shoot more over par than under. Think of them as scratch golfers, or in reality +5 handicappers, and then you can see they're no different from any golfer at any handicap.
I'm disappointed not to get 30 pts, happy from 34 pts and ecstatic to hit 36 and above.

Never thought of it like that matt! Your right brian i do enjoy getting 36 myself as it shows im playing to my handicap.

We had a works society day on Thursday and in the AM one chap was leading with just 34 pts and load others (including me) on 33. The chap who ended up winning came back from just 30 with a 39 so none of us broke "par" as such. I think handicap is more an indication of potential than average.
The mental thing is a very good point. I was on 22pts after 10 and playing solidly then hit a few bad drives and barely advanced for the next few holes. Confidence and concentration started to go a bit and I found it hard to get those bad holes out of the head.
Practice at the range is good but I think to myself when do I ever practice on grass and especially where the ball is above or below my feet, out of the rough, behind trees with restricted back swing, in fairway bunkers, 3 putt territory putts.

Tim, i find it extremely hard to get bad holes out of my head too. I try not to go to the range as much anymore but usually go to my clubs Practice facilities to concentrate on my short game. Thats where im losing shots as my driving is quite good. Playing in two comps this tues and wed so will see if it ends up same again in one good and one bad round!
