Short Game Practice
I have been reading on these forums that short game practice is a must to get the game going.
As a beginner, can anyone give me any advice, where is the best place to practice, what is best to use, any drills out there I should use etc etc
Thanks

Connor,
I am lucky enough to be a member of a course that has excellent practise facilities and generally i try and spend a minimum of 2hours a week practising my short game, its not enough to be honest but family commitments do play a factor, the most important thing to remember with regards to practise is quality rather than quantity.
I generally start my sessions by practising short 2-3 foot putts before moving out to 5-6 foot, before 10-12 footers, i vary where i putt from as to practise straight putts aswell as putts with borrows in, a good tip i have picked up to help with focus is to make the hole smaller by placing a couple of tees in the ground around the edge of the hole, thus forcing me to aim for a smaller target.
I then work on short chips from around the green utilising various clubs anything from a 7i to a Lob Wedge aiming to try and get the ball within 3 foot, (hopefully)
I then work my way back in 10 yard increments practising pitch and flop shorts, before moving out to 80 yards, 110 yards and 140yards to practise full shots with my Lob Wedge, Sand Wedge and Pitching Wedge respectivly. (I have learnt that if i reduce my swing with my wedges from 100% to 85% i have increased my accuracy by a considerable amount)
I hope this helps, but remember what suits one does not always suit others, but remember quality over quantity, 30mins of quality constructive practise is of greater benefit than 3hours of nothing.

Practice from 100yds in is crucial. Use different clubs from the same range. I tend to use my 9 iron from 130yds in though this is my personal preference (but not if I'm 80yds out with bunkers to go over). Get used to HOW FAR YOU CARRY the ball with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 swings.
Regarding putting, oh lets not go there.
