Handicap Calculation
Please help me understand how this calculation works.
I have added a round entering the net double bogey equivalent score for the blobs I had.
This gives me a net score after taking off my handicap of 70. The SSS for the course is 69, yet the site is taking off 0.6 from my handicap. I am confused.
Previously I had a round which gave me a net 67, so 2 under the SSS. The site removed 0.9 from my handicap. I didn't pay attention at the time, but it says I should now be playing off 14.
I am not sure how ending up 1 over the SSS has resulted in 0.6 being removed from my handicap.
Any chance you can look in to this for me and maybe give me some advice. My login name is bloater.
Thanks.

Hi, information based on your last round of 85 but theory applies to all of your query.
Your adjusted score was actually 82. The most you can score for handicapping is +2, you had 3 bad holes that resulted in the adjusted gross to be 82.
After deducting your handicap this resulted in you being -2 hence then 0.6 reducation. 0.3 per shot.

Hi, sorry if information isn't very clear.
Handicapping works on a basis of only +2 ie gross double bogey per hole.
Therefore, holes 3, 4 and 13 reduce your gross score by -3. This gives gross adjusted of 82 - handicap of 15 = 67 - SSS of 67 gives -2. This meant you shot 2 under. Adjusting your handicap by 2 shots. 0.3 * 2 = reduction of 0.6
Another user also didn't understand my notes and posted a link to a more useful article, link is at the bottom of the page.

For blobs I always put down 10. For some reason I used to think this was the max you could score per hole, think it's something to do with USGA they have a max per hole score.
