7 Golfers, 5 Rounds????

Posted by: user47219 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Wed 24th Aug 2011 21:57 | Last Reply

Visiting the Algarve with 6 mates soon. Social golf, but would like everyone to get at least one round with everyone else in the group.

Is there an aid to work out groupings for this combination (or any other for that matter) so that everyone plays with every other player over the course of the week?

Want to spread the load so that no-one plays with the same person too many times, but just looking for a way to achieve that without spending hours pouring over a spreadsheet.

No easy solution.I try each year to fit 12 golfers into 4 rounds with the same ideals - it can't work. Make sure they all have too much to drink every evening and they won't care who they play with the next morning. Spreadsheet is the only way to get anywhere near the ideal.

This is a great resource that tries to apply a mathematical forumla to the social golfer problem

Unfortunately no complete solution for 7 golfers over 5 rounds

Thanks Colin that's brilliant.

Thanks Darren, had looked at that and no doubt it'll come in useful in future.
