Consistency - or lack of

Posted by: user259247 | Fri 19th Aug 2011 10:02 | Last Reply

My game is so up and down at the moment. I was sure I would easily break 100 this summer but seem to be taking one step forward and two backwards.

Yesterday I shot a ridiculous 118 at my local course and one of the main problems was topping the ball from the tee (something I haven't done for ages), yet on the 16th I hit a superb 220 yds drive straight down the middle with a 2 wood.

Much the same with my irons too. Shots ranging from week 1 day 1 attempts to nicly struck accurate ones.

I just can't seem to be consistant.

Any advice would be really welcome as the more frustrated I become, the worse it gets.

Phil, my adice is along the same lines as mark. You get 26 shots over par then use them. The aim on each hole is 2 stableford points. If you get 3 then great. You should get only a few holes where you get only 1 point. ie a par 5 si 5. you get 2 shots over par. PLay to reach the green  in 4 shots then allow  3 for putts and this would give you 2 points etc etc.

Dave CAC handed Geordie.
