Golf Superstitions - What are yours?

Posted by: user415748 | Tue 16th Aug 2011 16:41 | Last Reply

Althoough I have no superstitions of my own I am interested in learning what sort the members here may have.

Noticed that least one person only wears all black in competions.

Wonder if anyone else has any?

I wouldn't call it superstition but I always use White Wooden Tees, White Glove and try to always use a ball with No 1 on it.

I used to only wear black in competitions (was it me?) although that has become less of a rule now.  Not sure if it was a superstition, probably more a lack of wardrobe as the smartest stuff I had was black, but some people thought it was sacrosanct and thought that they may have an advantage at, say, the NvS where we victorious Northerners wore red - didn't work though, eh Dave!

Never do my laces up until at the first tee

Always mark my card before teeing off on the next hole

Never add up my score until the end of the round

If I lose a ball, the replacement never comes out of the same sleeve

Chris, the reason you never do your laces up before the first tee is not superstition. it's usually because you haven't changed out of the suit you were wearing for the christening!

Tim I thought yours was "I must fall back on every swing" devilhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/devil_smile.gif" title="devil" width="20" />

On par 3s I always search for and use a broken tee that is lying around - and that is a superstition and not because I am Scottish.

That was just once Tim.  And despite the mad panic I managed to come level 3rd (5th on countback though)
