Handicap Help

Posted by: user389477 | Tue 19th Jul 2011 21:51 | Last Reply

I'm sure you have all seen similar posts but I could really help working this out

My initial handicap was 23

I have just played a round in 92 on a SSS 70 course but there were 4 triples in this score. My understanding is that these 4 holes should be adjusted to +2 giving me an adjusted gross score of 88.

88 - SSS of 70 = 18

18 - 23 (Current Handicap) = -5

As I am in category 4 my handicap should be cut 5 * 0.4 (2 Shots) to 21

The golfshake calculator has only cut me by 0.4 (suggesting that the adjusted score hasn't been taken into account), can anyone tell me where I am going wrong.

Thanks

Dean

the +2 is nett +2 which means you also take into account you handicap allocation for those holes.

this is a good post to read

Many thanks, that was driving me crazy. Gutted I'm not at 21 (what with my wife being 18.8 and family pride at stake) but at least I understand how it works now.
