Hosel help

Posted by: user350492 | Tue 19th Jul 2011 11:20 | Last Reply

I got a new set of VR Combo irons about six weeks ago. I do like them and they are (hopefully) pushing my game on from the old 'starter' Wilsons i had. However, the hosel on the 8 and 9 irons have come lose and worked away from the head. I assume this is because these are the irons i hit the most, certainly on the range.

Took them back to the shop and they haven't been able to fix them - apparently its too tight to work them back so they may need to send them off to Nike. Now i know it won't affect the performance, but it doesn't look good and will just be a home to grime.

Couple of questions;

1. Has anyone had this happen to them with their clubs?

2. How long should it take to get the clubs back?  Apparently they can't just swap them out for another two irons if they can be fixed.

Cheers, Rich

Personally, I would just send them back to Nike if they are only 6 weeks old

When I had my clubs built the hozels used to come loose when I cleaned the clubs, especially if I left them in the warm water for too long. I used water proof super glue to stick them back down which worked for a while, got fed up with that and used bearing fit Loctite last time and they haven't shifted since - they only came loose as they warmed up but the shafts are stuck fast any way so it was only an inconvenience anyway.

If I had paid good money for a set of new irons and two of the clubs developed problems this early I'd take them back and get another set of clubs!

Obviously, these were not fit for purpose so the shop must repair, change or refund your money.

Any problems from the shop just mention 'Trading Standards' and your rights.  Should get them sorted!
